I had a very warm welcome after a long days walking. The hotel has had a total refurbishment since I was last here approx 6 years ago! Anne, the landlady, immediately invited me to join her quiz team in the restaurant area . I was treated like royalty and experienced a first class waitress service all evening. It was clear that the hotel has galvanized the local community as was evidenced by the numbers who were in the pub for the evening.

The food was excellent, much better than others in the area. We were made very welcome when it was most needed.

Hartland is a lovely little village with some local stores and amenities, although bigger shops need a visit to Bideford. It's a great location to explore the countryside and the North Devon coastal path.

A good base to do coastal walks to Clovelly and Hartland Quay. The village itself has pubs for dining, cafe, restaurant and fish and chip shop. Two convenience stores one with Post Office. Hartland Abbey and gardens about a 20 minute walk away using public footpath.
Short drives to Bude, Bideford and Barnstaple.
A good place for stargazing! I actually saw comets during my stay!

Hartland Quay Hotel is wonderful.
Hartland Quay Hotel is wonderful. Donal and Sarah are exceptional host and their team of staff are also first class. My room was bright and had a great view. Breakfast was well cooked with a good selection from the cold buffet. I chose to eat my evening meal in the bar. Food was freshly cooked to order and very tasty. Good selection of drinks are also on offer.. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and intend to go back later in the year. Hartland is a hidden treasure.

The location is fantastic both for hiking and also doing some esay-going exercising like going for runs along the beautiful coast. The view is stunning, the hotel a great place to stay and the hosts there wonderful people to meet.
After a long period not visiting places due to Covid, it's easy to forget how exceptional B&B places are here in Devon. But even for Devon standards, the service at Philham House was just spectacular. Plenty of space, the most comfortable bed in a long time, peace and quiet, and an exquisite, friendly and fun service - without being intrusive in any way. Close to amazing beaches (especially Welcombe Mouth) and wonderful eateries.
I will be back for sure. Strongly recommended.
Nice, quite cottage, overlooking the Devon Hartland peninsula country side with a glimpse of the sea . Two nice, large double bedrooms (ensuite), large lounge/dining room, well equipped kitchen. Nice terrace to sit in. Owners very helpful and friendly also providing useful advice on places to visit in the area . Pet friendly - my dog was most welcome and well catered for! Freshly baked bread, milk, sugar tea and coffee waiting for us on arrival .
It is a great hideaway if you like isolated places. The Southwest Coast Path runs just a few hundred meters from the house, and Clovelly and Hartland Point are within a few hours walking distance (note that the beach is not accessible from the path though). Wonderful rocky shores at Hartland Quay and the gardens of Hartland Abbey are a short drive away, and Hartland village has three pubs. The cottage is warm and cosy, well equipped.
A lovely warm welcome by Rosie, and she had put milk and a cream tea in the fridge for our arrival which was lovely. The property was clean and everything we needed was catered for. The beds were very comfortable. Hartland is so quaint and beautiful and Hartland Abbey is amazing and just down the road. such a great property, great value for money and perfect for a stay in Hartland, thanks Rosie.
Comfortable, well equipped and spacious accommodation. Ideal for a couple. Everything worked and the whole place was immaculately clean on arrival. Great heating system and constant hot water. Quiet location but only a 5 minute drive from Hartland village and the coast. Hartland has 3 excellent pubs which all serve decent food, plus 2 shops for general provisions.
Location amazing. Beakfast very good,& the room was lovely, view of the quay, comfortable bed & chairs,& most important,a very good hot shower.Plenty of tea/coffee on offer. I would have booked a smaller room but none was available,so was in the family room.Stayed here before & always retains it's charm,no unnecessary modernisation.
A suburb location Everything was clean and welcoming . The beds were comfortable and the court yard garden was a bonus especially as we had good weather. Hot showers after a long day was welcome. The local pubs provided good food and a friendly service In fact everyone in the village was very welcoming.
The room was very updated with a comfortable bed. The hotels room were in a different part than the pub so it was quiet. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating and the food in the pub is nice. The area around the hotel has spectacular scenery.
All went very well. Hotel Team reacted to my wife's Vegan and GF dietary needs perfectly.
Room larger than expected, and comfy bed. All facilities you expect in a good hotel were there. Ample parking, and great attached bar and drinks selection
What a find, an absolutely fantastic cottage. Great location for all the area around the North Devon coast. Could not fault the facilities. We had a very enjoyable weeks stay and would highly recommend this property.
