Chapter 1 Hotels, hotel in Portland

Situated in Weymouth and with Weymouth Beach reachable within 1 km, Chapter 1 Hotels features concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and water sports facilities.

Perfect location close to everything including the sea. Nice breakfast, and most importantly, the hotel manager was very helpful when I made an error on my booking and offered advice on where to visit. A lot of thought has gone into the property and it has a literary theme. Definitely coming back here.

Portland is lovely, I have been coming since a child, unfortunately the bus service outside of the pensyvania estate isn't great, you have to walk a fair way to the number 1 bus stop which has a regular service,if you have walking issues this isn't great.

I was born in Portland and the purpose of the visit was to see family so I am very familiar with the island but there are some beautiful places of interest in and around the island. Even if you do not wish to drive there is a very good public service and also trains

Portland was easy to get to on the bus (No 1) from the train station. There is a stop just over the road but not clearly marked, you can pick up the bus from the Kings Head Statue as well ( walk down to the seafront , turn right and it’s the last bus stop). Portland was interesting with different scenery for our walk, which included Portland Bill and old quarries. Our visit was Monday / Tuesday evening and we had no car. I would suggest booking a restaurant/ pub if you want to eat on Portland. The Cove House Inn ( closed Monday ) and the Little Ship ( closed Tuesday) are good options. We took the bus to Weymouth Harbour ( get off at the Magistrates Court stop), there are lots of eating places and nice for a walk round.

unusual place with a mixture of terrain .

unusual place with a mixture of terrain . The beach is quite something on a sunny day and well worth a visit along with the Portland Bill lighthouse where we were lucky enough to see a Seal . I would certainly recommend a visit which also has the benefit of Weymouth a 10-15 minute drive away. Local People we spoke to seemed genuinely funny and helpful.

Even though it has quite limited options of where to eat in the island, for climbers it is a lovely place to go. A lot of the beaches I know from there are pebbled one so bring suitable footwear so your feet do not hurt. This is the second time (always in Sep) I come to this part of Dorset, I discover something knew evert time.

Coastal path with stunning views over the Jurassic coast within 1 minute's walk of the hotel. Perfect for taking in sunsets with a gentle walk down to Portland Bill lighthouse. Rooftop terrace was a lovely bonus for those days I didn't fancy the walk and rather a drink whilst taking in the views after a lot of walking in the day. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

Great location exploring Portland and for us a good walk along the coast to Weymouth Spacious and clean. Well equipped kitchen The top floors do slope slightly but this does not distract from its uniqueness Parking is a bit tight to get into, but still able to park A lovely walk to the pebbly beach and beautiful clear water to swim in Friendly neighbourhood

The room was very basic. Compared to Premier Inns, for the money it did not compare but I had an enjoyable stay and the staff were helpful and very pleasant. The bathroom was much better and seemed newly fitted. The position of the hotel was excellent. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was exceptional. Nice soap and fluffy white towels.
