Really nice old town, some nice coffee shops and cafes. Quirky little shops and little alleyways to explore. The canals are a nice place to walk and everything is in walking distance. Plenty of parking available.

Stopped a couple of days in Devizes on our way to Wales. Great market town with lots of food and water holes. The White Bear is a buzzing little pub, with friendly customers and attentive hosts. Will return again, when hopefully the weather is nicer to us!

Lovely Georgian town with many original buildings. The Caen Locks of historic interest and good to walk alongside. A good cafe at the top of the locks. We ate at an Indian Restaurant opposite the Castle Hotel; excellent food.

I like Wadworth beer and as the brewery is here there was plenty of opportunity to go beer drinking. All the pubs we tried were interesting and friendly and the beer was well kept in all of them. We had a good walk along the canal to see the long flight of locks and there were interesting shops in the town. We liked the tea shop in the Ginnal and the bakery for sourdough bread. Everyone we met was friendly.

Devizes looks a little bit rundown.

Devizes looks a little bit rundown. Beautiful buildings are not restored and kept at their best which is a great pity. One popular eating place had filthy windows with bird excrement on them which reflects a lack of pride and cleanliness of the people who own or rent out these buildings. A lot more money needs to be invested in Devizes if it is to attract people. It would be a shame to let this historic town go to complete ruin. People should take pride in their heritage and at the very least clean their shop front, shop windows and paint the façades. However, Devizes is better than Crewkerne and Chard.

Devizes is far too reticent about its charms.

Devizes is far too reticent about its charms. It is a lovely small market town in the heart of some glorious countryside. It is packed with history and adjacent to the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal (especially the astonishing engineering feat of the Caen Hill Lock Flight, 30 mins' walk from the town centre). The town has many traditional pubs, and shops are quirky and individual rather than the standard chain stores you can find anywhere. (But don't come for a shopping experience.)

The chef preparing the evening meals was very good, excellent evening meals. The location for the town and canal was very good. Luckily a few public car parks close by, we parked in the Wharf car park (3 minutes from hotel on the same road) at £6.70 per 24 hours (free on Sundays) with our car parked right outside the Police Station gates that were in use 24 hours so we felt the car was safe there. Devizes is a lovely town and worth a visit as are Caen Hill Locks which are walkable from the hotel - about 30 minutes away.

The Little House is in a central location in Devizes. Ideal for a couple or individual and, in our opinion, much nicer than staying in a hotel. It was spotlessly clean and very well appointed - everything had been thought of. A useful welcome pack with all the necessary items for breakfast was provided, along with WiFi, charging points, a smart TV, hairdryer, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and contemporary shower room.

Location excellent, very central to town centre. Evening meal and breakfast was excellent as well. Due to un-foreseen circumstances our daughter and partner were unable to travel and stay at the last minute and we were unable to cancel their booking but the hotel did discount back half of the room cost as a gesture of goodwill. Very much appreciated as they didn't have to do this. Would thoroughly recommend.

By far the best hotel in Devizes: the staff were unbelievably welcoming, as if I were a family member. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent - the service exceptional. Despite the bar being very busy on one night due to a local event - the staff still had time to make sure everything was ok, even delivering food to my room as there weren't any tables spare. Will only be staying here in future.

It had everything you could possibly need and with the hot weather they had a fan ready and waiting. I know the area well , so can state that it's in a very good location. I was doing a charity walk so was particularly tired after walking in the heat all day, the apartment was perfect and had everything I needed.I extended my stay for another night. Can't wait to stay again.

The history of the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and genuine. The fact that there were at least three separate functions on demonstrates the reputation the venue has locally. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the waitress couldn't have been bettered with her attitude and attention to detail

The landlady Natalie gave us a very warm welcome on arrival. The room was spotlessly clean and modern, and although central to Devizes it was exceptionally quiet. Long term car parking was available nearby and overall we could not have been happier with our experience at The Pelican.

The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the centre of Devizes. The restaurant was fabulous, service and food was great and we had a lovely table. We stayed in the Bridal Suite and it was honestly the best night's sleep I have had in a long time.

Nice breakfast in a basket with a hot bacon or sausage sandwich, cereal, pastry, juice, tea or coffee. Quiet, with everything one could need, especially parking in the centre of Devizes (n.b. local hotels do not have their own parking facilities).
