An excellent location for travellers on the A1 and easy to find. Very helpful staff. The restaurant was very popular with families, but our menu choices was not as well cooked as I would have liked and the breakfast was poorly cooked, but this is a personal view. The whole place looked tired and Greene King need to take more care of its inns, this is the second time we have stayed in one and the hot water boiler has failed and there has been no hot water.

Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract. Bus service is minimal. Lots of big houses and well tended lawns. There are two pubs and a small general store. Church and church hall are set back from the road (which is busy) We were having a post breakfast stroll guessing the property prices and a local lady invited us to a coffee morning, which was nice.

The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any noise from it. It was ideal to break up the journey further north for a funeral & then the return journey. Bed was very comfortable and large, staff were very welcoming and friendly, having a pub attached gave a great choice for evening meals and breakfast.
The only criticism was the occasional uneven floor in the room

I travelled to spend time with family. The staff are great. Location is good just off the A1. We visited Bridlington Beach for the day, which has a lovely beach and funfair and restaurants. It is about 1 hour and 20 mins from Darrington.

The only good point for our reason for being there was the location.
Every other aspect of the Darrington Hotel was unpleasant, in fact downright disgusting! The place is filthy and the constant TV sport, in every nook and cranny, is unbearable.
The rooms are tiny, the shower was minute and we had one chair between us. No hanging space or drawers.
The food was awful, badly cooked, badly presented, cheap and nasty, though not to buy! The breakfasts were appalling! Little choice, poor quality, like warm water to make tea or coffee, there was nothing good about the breakfasts. The staff? Scruffy! One lad in particular, with filthy jeans, long dirty hair and an arrogant swagger, looked more like a tramp than a waiter!
Many years ago we lived in Darrington and that hotel was our local. It was then a decent, well kept place. Now, it is simply disgusting!
Hotel reception is just left of the pub, so you don't have to walk through the pub. Our room was large, with a full ensuit. Shower over bath, lots of very hot water. The staff were all lovely & friendly. The hotel is located just off the A1 but we didn't hear any traffic. Large free carpark.
Decent breakfast, choices of fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, cereal, toast and the hearty full English.
All staff were friendly and helpful. Molly who booked us in was very polite and gave us tips and ideas for our days out that we had planned. Molly and the other staff always asked how our stay had been when they saw about the hotel.
Room was clean and spacious. Location was great for getting in to York and leeds with out the high cost.
Food was quick and was nice for the price we paid.
Compared to the Premier Inn I stayed in in Knottingley the previous night which I had to move out of due to qan unexpected extension, the Darrington was 10x better, the food and drink choices and but it was the engaging and helpful attitude of the staff who really made me feel welcome. Will deffo use GK Inns in future over PI.
The hotel is located in a lovely little village. The staff are fantastic! The pub provides tasty and affordable meals and has a lovely atmosphere. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. I was especially pleased with the quality of the bed and that the room had a bath.
Arrivedon a motorcycle. Parked my bike in the main carpark front of hotel. It became very windy I decided better to move the bike and night staff suggested up by enterence to reception with shelter from the very strong winds.
