We stayed in the suite which was a great size but the bathroom needed some TLC. The staff were very friendly.

Returning stay having loved last year's break, in spite of the poor weather last visit. This time the weather was great and showed the hotel at its best. Lovely surroundings, exceptionally friendly staff, fascinating characterful building with history and current charm, very clean, nice food, very cosy public areas, big room, accessible options, nice bathroom, plenty of towels and large free car park. Very handy for South and Western Lakes and a pleasant back route to Bowness.
Hotel is fantastic. I stayed for work and used it as a base for business in the North. Quick access to Lakes and M6 which is an added bonus.
Room is on point with comfy bed, great bathroom with decent shower and a desk to work. Staff are helpful and friendly and food is really good to.

Everything was good about our stay here, proximity to M6 to break the journey to Scotland. The room was very comfortable and food was good. I would just have liked a healthier vegetarian breakfast option.

Rural location is good.
Rural location is good. And everything at the hotel was great! Friendly and professional staff, comfortable and immaculately clean room and superb food and service at a reasonable price in the restaurant. Ample free car parking, too.
Only slight negative is that hotel is on a busy, fast road with no pavements - so walks from it might be limited for some guests (eg those with several small children or some elderly people).

We have stayed here several times before and it never fails to live up to expectations. From the minute you walk through the door you are put at ease by the friendly helpful staff. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with excellent ensuite bathrooms. Beds are comfortable and everything is spotless. The bar and restaurant service is excellent and the food is fabulous, good choice and generous portions.
The hotel is in a great location to explore either the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales.
Excellent location for access to Lakes and North Yorkshire ( and Lancashire). Crooklands Hotel next door, good food though do book, gets v busy at weekends. The cottage is well fitted out with bedlinen, good towels, crockery etc.
