The Royal Oak Hotel, Welshpool, Mid Wales, hotel in Chirbury

Centrally located in Welshpool, known as the Gateway to Wales, this historic hotel offers traditional cuisine and a range of real ales.

There was plenty of food for breakfast. The location of the Hotel was not a problem, it being right in the Town. Having a private car park helped.

Fantastic value for money. The room was stunning! Very clean and the hosts were lovely. I couldn’t ask for more. There’s lots to do in the area if you’re active but it’s also a great place to just go and relax. 11/10

The accommodation was spacious, had everything you needed and very comfortable bed, bathroom a very good size and lovely shower. We would definitely like to return for another visit and explore the area further. We stayed here as it was close to Powis Castle and gardens, which was easy to get to. We can highly recommend The Stiperstones Pub for food. I had lamb shank which was delicious and the menu is extensive. It was one of the most welcoming places we've been on our many travels and will definitely be back. You need to book though as it fills up fast - a measure of its popularity! Montgomery is a very pretty village/town and Bonners shop was one of those proper old shops which had a large range of bits and pieces and many rooms to explore, loved it.

    VERY PICTURESQUE .

VERY PICTURESQUE . WOULD NOT RECOMMEND WALKING AROUND THE NARROW LANES DUE TO VEHICLES USING THEM. EATING ESTABLISHMENTS LIMITED HOWEVER THE TWO WHICH WE TRIED OFFERED A REASONABLE SELECTION OF DISHES OF GOOD QUALITY.
