Cerne Abbas is a hidden gem - absolutely amazing countryside and lovely village. The walking is immense - previously we had just done the obvious jaunt up to Cerne's Giant, but this time we found many walks to other places all starting from Cerne. The scenery is untouched and exquisite. We ate at the Royal Oak that was amazing and we heard from other people that food at the New Inn was also superb.

Cerne Abbas is steeped in history.
Cerne Abbas is steeped in history. Lovely abbey and ruins also three pubs to choose from. Walking through the village to the duck pond is a walk back in time. Not forgetting the Cerne giant with his very large profile!!!

A pretty Dorset village with a range of shops, pubs as well as the chalk Giant. Ideally situated to visit Dorset -- both down to the coast (Chesil Beach, Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle, Studland etc) as well as nearby villages such as Tolpuddle, Milton Abbas etc. If you are staying at the New Inn (highly recommended) ask for their local walking maps.
