The Wheatsheaf Hotel is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. The restaurant serves dishes made using local recipes and produce, and the bar serves real ales.

food was good and at a good price. Breakfast was good value for money. The open fire in the bar was cosy and gave the place real character.

The easiest way to sum this review up is within the property we saw a Booking.com review score 9.9 and both my wife and I said we can't understand why it's not 10. From the welcoming, attentive owners, to the clean, spacious, modern rooms, everything was excellent. So happy we chose to stay here for our anniversary.

Friendly, welcoming tenants (a cheerful, helpful couple) and regulars. Lovely warm (from wood fire) bar with all ales well kept, music not too loud. Food, both evening meals and full English breakfast for me, vegetarian for my wife, was very well cooked, tasty and generous quantities. Bedroom very nice, comfortable and clean.

Carperby, is an easy village to find and is great point too, for going to other places of interest it is also flat for walking around the village and short walks, also the weatsheaf is also easy for getting around ,the staircases are not steep like some old coaching houses, and can be managed by some elderly ,not to sure about wheelchairs I would check with " Claire or Emerly" ( owners) who you will find most helpfull

This small village is surrounded by stunning natural landscape that is a joy to view. It is a wonderful stopping point for the night when exploring the northern Yorkshire Dales. Be aware that you should be an experienced driver as navigating the sharp turns and narrow bridges may be stressful to those travelers who are uncomfortable driving on the left side of the road.

Caperby itself is relatively small and surrounded by spectacular scenery.
The area is picturesque good for walking and sightseeing with pretty market towns dotted about.
Cafés offer scrumptious cakes, easy lunches and steaming hot drinks.
Dogs are welcome in many pubs.
There are quite a few castles and ruins to visit though some of them are open at weekends only during the winter months.

The wheatsheaf is a good base to explore the dales.many places within walking distance e.g castle Bolton, and Aysgarth falls .with many other places a short half hour car ride.good shoes essential for walks and make sure you can climb the stiles.would recommend a visit to see the red squirrels at snaizeholme.
We stayed at the hotel as a group travelling with our dogs to train on the dales. They accommodated all our requirements in respect of the dogs. All our dogs slept in the car but we had an option to discretely bring them in to our rooms if we needed to. The staff were friendly and happy to help. Food was not "fine dining" but more than acceptable and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were good and they catered for our early starts by opening the dining room 15 mins earlier.
We have already booked for July 2023!
Great Pub & Hotel. Run by Emily & Claire.
Made to feel very welcome on every visit. Staff are great friendly & outgoing. Nothing is ever too much trouble . From the moment you walk through the door to leaving it's a lovely relaxing stay. Rooms are lovely & comfortable with everything you need. Food is lovely as well, very plentiful & reasonably priced. We love visiting the Wheatsheaf. And we can't wait to visit again in January. Keep up the good work we would not stay anywhere else
I booked a single room. As expected, it was compact, but the bed and linens were glorious. The room was spotless and the temperature well regulated. The hotel was filled with local artwork and historical photos of life in the village decades ago. There is a charming guest area with a fire place and room to gather for drinks or conversation. Having a warm, filling breakfast in the morning was a great way to start exploring this beautiful area.
Excellent location for exploring the local area. Very clean in rooms and throughout the hotel.Very relaxed atmosphere at the hotel.staff very efficient and friendly. Excellent food with a good choice on the menu. Great breakfast.Good choice of drinks at the bar including local beers.A great place to call in either when walking/ cycling or by car. Within walking distance of Aysgarth falls and Bolton castle.Good car parking at rear of hotel .
Loved this place. The village is wonderful. The staff very friendly. We were three people and had a small apartment. Lovely walks directly from the hotel. Great atmosphere in the restaurant in the evening. Lovely food and beer. Breakfast served beautifully. We will surely return. Thanks for everything.
Food was lovely, staff very friendly, room very clean. The hotel is in a great location in the Dale's. Really enjoyed our stay. We have been to stay before and has always been great. We have also just had a meal there on lots of occasions, always enjoyed the food.
Quaint little hotel strongly recommend it. Stayed at the annex and found it very comfortable. The restaurant offered a very good and varied menu. Walking distance to some beautiful falls and Bolton Castle is also quite near.
