We were visiting relatives in leigh on sea. The property was central and within walking distance to Southend. Parking was available outside the hotel. We loved the breakfast. The lady was very obliging. The bed was very comfortable with clean sheets.

The owner was very kind and upgraded us for free to their best balcony suite which was spacious and had a great balcony. I had a really good quality breakfast in the morning, all in all a very good one night stay.

Very Nice apartament 😊I loved the basket of wines and Chips, it makes a difference, I had some milk in the fridge, that's very thoughtful, I'll definitely be back
Unfortunately, there isn’t much to like.
The bar / restaurant was OK, but WiFi was not available in that area and was poor and very slow.
In the bedroom the tv was on a unit that was lower than the bed, very unusual.
All the electrical appliances had out of date PAC test dates, especially the extension lead!!

Canvey Island is a quiet place with many retired people and tradesmen in white vans. The location itself was quiet and you're 10 minutes' walk from Concorde beach. Most of the pictures on TripAdvisor were selective to say the least as trying to find a sandy beach (and no rocks, gravel and shells do not count) was hard. The only sandy beach is in Shoeburyness East and Shoeburyness common in Southend-On-Sea approximately 40 minutes drive away, but even those the sea was miles from the coastline for you to be able to venture into it. A little disappointing to be honest and the murky weather over the 3-days we were there didn't help much.

Staying at the Oyster Fleet Hotel on Canvey Island suited the visit as it avoided staying in the centre of Southend. For a start the hotel included somewhere to park the car at no extra cost and on site. The island is not somewhere I would chose for a holiday but it was convenient for my overnighter. The town centre seems a bit run down with little choice for eating out. The hotel offered the best choice for eating with good choices for both evening bar meal and breakfast at reasonable cost. Good bar and friendly staff, too.
