Holiday Inn Express Bridgwater M5, Jct24, an IHG Hotel in Bridgwater has 3-star accommodation with a shared lounge, a restaurant and a bar. The hotel also offers free WiFi and free private parking.

We were allocated another hotel due to the Holiday Inn being refurbed, however the replacement was excellent, we stayed at the Hotel Ibis, Bridgewater, we had 1 twin & 1 double connecting rooms which were amazing. Loved the "industrial" feel and look of the decor. Breakfast was slow and had to wait for food to be replenished, however it was very good.

Mercure Bridgwater, hotel in Burrowbridge

Mercure Bridgwater in Bridgwater has 4-star accommodation with a fitness centre, a restaurant and a bar.

I've recently written a review for the hotel, so it seems unnecessary to go into it again, but I will add 2 things. Housekeeping staff work really hard. The aircon is bloody useless and so noisy.

Burrowbridge is small with just an excellent pub, which served a good range of excellent food, and good local beers. We are still in times when many of the pubs have not fully reopened, but did not have to go too far to find good places to eat.

Great pub - The King Alfred - with atmosphere, character and great food. Unfortunately we didn't have time to explore Burrowbridge itself much, as we'd come to see the annual Bridgwater Carnival - which we would definitely recommend!

Beautiful little village next to Athelney (where allegedly King Alfred burnt the cakes!) An excellent pub. (Visited on a previous occasion) and Burrow Mump- a Hill with ruined church on top - like a mini Glastonbury Tor which can be seen in the distance. Perfectly placed for walks through the Somerset Levels. Excellent for birdwatching and for picking brambles and sloes along the lanes.

Tina is a great host - friendly and helpful, and cooks an excellent breakfast! We chose the very quiet twin bedded room at the back of the house - warm with deep carpet, views over river from both windows, attractive decoration and well furnished. Large en-suite with good shower. Property is easy to find. Easy parking. Nice garden. We enjoyed the company of the hens and gentle dog. Good meals at King Alfred at Burrowbridge and Royal Oak (community pub) at Stoke St Gregory.
