The property is beautiful, full of interesting, historical features and lots of character. The location is also incredible. The room was very comfortable and the en-suite was well presented in a modern style. We enjoyed the use of the games room with pool table and spending the evening in the 'old chapel' lounge which was also very comfortable.

Unspoilt, unpretentious, relaxed small town with friendly people and fabulous cafe by the river. Great location for Cumbria and Northumberland, for walking and sightseeing. Solo travellers will feel at home here.

I have known Brough for a long time and have found the locals to be friendly and ready to help with information if required. The village is quiet with two Pubs which serve meals. I dined at INN Hotel the food was good. There is a village shop which caters for most items you might need and has nice staff. The village is a good starting point for outdoor activities. The village has good footpaths so easy to get around. Kirby Stephen is four miles away which has a train station and a Co-op supermarket and post office if required.
We stayed here as a stopover from Scotland. The room was lovely, and the bathroom was luxurious but after the quiet of the Highlands, the placing of the bar tables right next to the road instead of in the spacious yard was disappointing. At the front of the building there is noise from the hotel's own bar as well as two bars opposite. This is not bad enough to be a big problem, and we slept well. Breakfast was fine and served with a smile.
Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Good choices on the menu and beautifully cooked and presented.
It was possible to get breakfast from 7 am which is good when you have an early start.
My room was quiet and comfortable, with lovely modern bathroom.
Room drinks facilities very thoughtfully provided a saucer for used teabags- just a thoughtful little extra touch which many hotels don't think of.
Staff were amazing and very accommodating, rooms and hotel was very clean, beds were by far the best I have ever slept in, slept like a log. There were 7 of us staying and everyone commented about how comfortable they were and how well they slept.
The hotel itself is very attractive, and of course in the most beautiful setting - my room looked straight out onto the hills. But absolutely the most striking thing was how wonderful all the staff were - friendly, helpful, kind - just lovely!
A very helpful hotel, they were happy to go above and beyond. We had an early check in, which enabled us to get changed before an event.
We had a great choice for breakfast which was cooked very well and thoroughly enjoyed.
The staff were extremely helpful. Dawn and Alison in particular. The location was very quiet and nothing much going on in Brough! But I visited Appleby, Kirby Stephen, and Kendal, plus Brough castle. All worth a visit.
The hotel is very well decorated and the rooms are excellent. Staff are very friendly and the breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room.
Great stop over off the A66
