The plough does not provide breakfast. The room didn't seem to have been cleaned for some time and was dirty with a cracked sink and mould in the shower. No one came to the room to make the beds etc and we had to ask a gentleman from the kitchen staff for milk and sugar to enable us to have a drink.

It was perfect for what we wanted. Lovely family room, very nicely appointed. We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was great. Breakfast the next day was generous and delicious. We had a nice walk to town (10 mins) in the evening and it was a short walk (but we drove) to Alnwick Castle.

Beautiful decor and furnishings, with everything well thought out. Our room was luxurious and the bed so comfortable.
We loved the jar of homemade cookies!
Staff could not have been more helpful and the breakfast was wonderfully tasty.
The location is right in the heart of the town, close to the castle. Ideal for exploring on foot.
Really couldn’t fault anything.

We first visited the Red Lion Inn for a drink when we visited Alnmouth in 2023, and immediately knew we wanted to stay at the inn! We were attending a wedding nearby and it was the perfect chance to stay here. Check-in was easy and fast, our room was clean and comforting, we were able to book to have dinner in the pub, and we had a delicious breakfast the next morning.

Boulmer itself is quite small with very few amenities but if you are looking for rest and recuperation it is excellent, many place to see around e.g. Alnmouth, to the south 4 miles away and Bamburgh and Craster to the North, the Gardens of Howick Hall are a delight and the Tea Room is not to be missed. If you are eating out we can thoroughly recommend Bistro 23 in Alnmouth but you must Book, they have an excellent chef who Knows how to cook fish as well as everything else on the Menu, the menu is not large but everything is cooked to perfection and the service is excellent, the prices are very reasonable, we have been going for over 10 years and it just seems to get better each time we visit.

What a stunning stretch of Northumberland Coastline. A peaceful retreat - you will come home feeling recharged from watching the softly lapping sea all day, bliss.
In easy walking distance (via costal paths) to Alnmouth (one way) & Craster (the other way). A short drive from Alnwick too.
This place is a well kept secret.
The fishing boat inn is a beautiful pub with good selection of choices & an amazing bunch of friendly staff who make everyone feel at home.

A great village for travelling to the tourist spots in the area, very central for all places of interest. Very quiet & peaceful & right on the beach. Bamburgh Castle & Alnwick Castle & gardens are all well worth a visit. A boat trip from the lovely town of Seahouses to the Farne Islands to see the puffins, seals & various seabirds & possibly dolphins is very enjoyable too. The Seaview Restaurant at the Fishing Boat Inn was our favourite place to eat & we had a very comfortable & relaxing stay there, their new rooms are amazing. We will return there again.
Wonderful accommodation in a beautiful location. A little remote but very peaceful and the view from the room overlooking the beach is superb. Room is spacious, clean and very comfortable, breakfast is filling and very tasty and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It did help that we got some lovely Northumberland sunshine so we could make the most of some lovely walks on the beach which is literally on the hotels doorstep. We also ate twice in the restaurant and the food was first class.
