I went to see Cresswell Craggs, about 15 minutes away. This is so far the only place in the UK where you can see Paleolithic rock art - not quite Lascaux or Altamira yet but future excavations may find more examples. Nice museum/shop with good cafe and a fine day out. Lovely scenery.

Ordered vegetarian breakfast but no available the second day as no one had let the kitchen know.
Really awful was the wagons parked up within 30 feet of the window that kept their engines running for hours. No sleep till they left.

Superb stopover location with easy access to M1- the accommodation was as expected clean affordable efficiency with no formalities with welcoming staff and greet bar area to "chill out" after a long journey.
Surrounded by a choice of eateries within walking distance makes for relaxed stopover or break
The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The bed was very comfy and the room clean. Great for a one night stay. We had the room with a private bathroom. This wasn't an issue at all there were other guests staying we didn't hear or see them upstairs at any point. Infact we only knew about them at breakfast. We were a little later going for breakfast but nothing was too much trouble and it was a better breakfast than the 5 star hotel I had stayed at the previous week for work!
The lad with beard we could not praise any more , he is one staff member that is totally committed to his job , fantastic guy , nothing is too much trouble . What a valuable member of staff to have. Makes a short break away worthwhile when you a greeted with kindness and you have that staff member who gives the extra mile , because of him I certainly will be back with my family in the future and I will highly recommend this hotel.
The reception requires upgrading. Generally, as you enter, the hotel looks tired and presents itself as mediocre. The carpets require replacing. Having said so, the staff are hard working to no real compliment from the business. I suppose the poor standards are a reflection of the hotel owners than the staff.
me and partner stay regularly as the location is good for us. breakfast is lovely. also the staff are always lovely. special shout out to Claire who just went above and beyond, who helped me when I’d forgotten my hairspray, but also helped with a couple of other things too during my stay. credit to the hotel.
Property location was fantastic, just off the M1, the staff were really friendly & helpful, the room was very clean, & the bed was super comfortable, couldn’t fault it, & I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, five stars from me👍
Both the room and the bathroom were a good size. We didn't use the bar/restaurant but thought it was good that those facilities were available. The hotel was in a good position for the motorways.
Hotel is close to M1 so it’s easy to move around. Staff very friendly and helpful if needed.
Room was good value for money and quite big (compared to other double rooms I’ve stayed at).
