Best Western Plus Aston Hall Hotel, hotel in Barlborough

Surrounded by 55 acres of breathtaking woodland, this 18th century property combines stylish contemporary design with beautiful original features and period charm.

The breakfast was lovely but a bit too expensive for the smaller portions we ordered, and the chef/cook needs to be taught how to do scrambled eggs properly.

Staff were great and breakfast of champions, Went for a run around the village and neighbouring village scenery was lovely. Had a drive into Chesterfield to see the Spire and had a fantastic meal ad Odyssey Greek Restaurant.

I went to see Cresswell Craggs, about 15 minutes away. This is so far the only place in the UK where you can see Paleolithic rock art - not quite Lascaux or Altamira yet but future excavations may find more examples. Nice museum/shop with good cafe and a fine day out. Lovely scenery.

TV didnt work and couldnt be fixed for 2 days. Ordered vegetarian breakfast but no available the second day as no one had let the kitchen know. Really awful was the wagons parked up within 30 feet of the window that kept their engines running for hours. No sleep till they left.

The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The bed was very comfy and the room clean. Great for a one night stay. We had the room with a private bathroom. This wasn't an issue at all there were other guests staying we didn't hear or see them upstairs at any point. Infact we only knew about them at breakfast. We were a little later going for breakfast but nothing was too much trouble and it was a better breakfast than the 5 star hotel I had stayed at the previous week for work!

Friendly staff, welcoming, reasonable sized room with good facilities extra pillows available in the room, plenty of towels in the bathroom etc. Great location 1 min off the m1 j30. Perfect as we was attending a wedding at the van dyke 2 miles away. Hotel receptionist gave us a list of local taxi companies we could use which was great. Breakfast was adequate typical fare. There is a harvester pub with fantastic food adjoined to the car park, also mcdonalds and Costa coffee too.

Breakfast is superb for the price and great for M1 literally less than a mile away. This is a good value hotel for a one or two night stay and has a comfortable lounge area which is better than Premier Inns

Both the room and the bathroom were a good size. We didn't use the bar/restaurant but thought it was good that those facilities were available. The hotel was in a good position for the motorways.
