Bamford is probably one of the smaller settlements in the hope valley, with Hope, Castelton and Edale having a little more to offer visitors. However, as part of the Hope Valley it's still packed with stunning countryside to walk through and you're still on the train line to visit the other hotspots such as Edale for Kinder Scout or Castleton for Mam Tor. It does take about 30-50min to walk from Bamford to Hope though if the trains aren't running, and as with many rural areas, expect very few taxis. So if the trains aren't running you could be walking or lot or driving around to see other areas.
In Bamford itself we visited the Wild Kettle Cafe at the Garden Centre which is very modern style cafe but with a more traditional menu and in the evening we went to the Anglers Rest (I think the only pub in Bamford) who served quality local ales and the food looked good too (though we ate at home).

Nice clean hotel in a great location.
Nice clean hotel in a great location. Very pleasant, helpful staff.
On the down side, the breakfast was cold and we had to wait over an hour for our food after ordering. No mirror in the bedroom.
On the whole a very nice hotel and I would recommend it.

We focussed on walks around Ladybower Reservoir, which were magnificent. Accessible paths, well marked routes, and public facilities at the visitor centres. Obviously a popular spot so some difficulty finding parking - but there are great public transport options.

We took an utterly lovely circular walk from/back to the Yorkshire Bridge Inn and finished off with a few refreshing drinks in their very attractive beer garden. We ate there as well, at an outside table (I forgot this in my review of the hotel), lovely, quality food with top notch sauces.
Bamford is well worth a visit and the tea room at the garden centre is a must - great little craft shops/huts open some days too.

We stayed just north of Bamford in the Yorkshire Bridge Inn.
We stayed just north of Bamford in the Yorkshire Bridge Inn. Lovely old building - traditional English pub - with excellent rooms and very good food. Idea for walking. The Derwent Dam, where the Dambusters trained, is nearby. If you want to do some shopping Sheffield is only 20 minutes by car.

Bamford is a tiny village with a post office and a couple of nice village pubs. It is on the road to Castleton and the Blue John Cavern which is why we stayed there and of course the Ladybower reservoir is there with lovely views and walks around and about.
We liked our room which had everything we needed to enjoy our short stay and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast menu had alot of choices to choose from which accounted for everyones tastes and the service was very good. For the evening meals, there was a large menu and a specials board to choose from which was good and the prices were reasonable . The food was quick served and of good quality which we were pleased about.
Overall, it was a well run hotel and we would definately come back here again.
The cottage was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The cottage had everything we needed and the toiletries supplied were absolutely lovely. There was a homemade cake and marmalade in our welcome pack, alongside bread, milk and wine. The location was great for local walks, including Bamford Edge and Lady Bower Reservoir. A really lovely cottage in a lovely area!
Great location for doing the walks around ladybower. Parking is right across the road and included with room costs. I highly recommend getting there in the morning and going for a walk and checking in afterwards as the carpark isnt exclusively for the hotel. Rooms and very clean and the food is lovely. Staff are very friendly and accomadating.
An excellent hotel. The newly refurbished inn and rooms were exceptionally well fitted out, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view over the Ladybower lake. The evening meal was of a very high standard and the quality was 4 star, very well presented by helpful and charming staff. The breakfast was again excellent
Spent a fantastic evening eating and drinking the lovely pub. The food was excellent. Our room was basic but clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was really good. Friendly staff too. The walk from Ladybower Inn round the reservoir to the Derwent Dam and back is beautiful. We will definitely be back.
Clean, modern, easy to find and, while it’s out on its own, it’s easily accessible to local pubs, walks to Bamford Edge and Derwent Dam etc & has lovely views. Georgie, the host, made it extra special with some food, wine and a cake left to enjoy during our stay!
Great location with beautiful views and easy access to walks (one starts behind the pub/hotel).
We really loved the location and character of the hotel.
Food at the restaurant was very good (English Breakfast & Fish & Chips!!!) and the staff was friendly.
The location is great just under Bamford's Edge. Very good starting place for hiking and other activities. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a great feel with good food and ample portions.
Didn't stay there , travelled 2 hours and was told after trying to book in on their automated machine that booking.com had been offering bookings they shouldn't and the hotel was full
Hotel was spotlessly clean, staff were really helpful and friendly - and there was plenty of staff at all times. The food was excellent quality for both breakfast and dinner.
