Harbourmaster Hotel, hotel in Aberaeron

Set in Aberaeron, 28 km from Aberystwyth Golf Club, Harbourmaster Hotel offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

We received a warm welcome by the hosts on arrival and a cup of tea with cake. We were given the top floor suite which had great views of the harbour to the front and the sea to the side. The hotel is in a beautiful old house with the original spiral staircase up to the rooms and the bar is in an adjoining old mill building- very homely and comfortable. All of the staff speak Welsh which is my first language so I felt at home immediately. We had an evening meal in the bar and the food was excellent, all served with a smile. The menu choice was quite small but interesting.

Castle Hotel, hotel in Aberaeron

Centrally located within the beautiful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, this hotel offers traditionally decorated rooms and a fine selection of drinks from its bar. Wi-Fi is free in public areas.

Great location. Shame the bar was closing 10pm when we arrived back on the Saturday evening. We hoped it would remain open for us to have a drink.

Lovely little town, but the significant harbour improvements being undertaken does detract from its attractiveness. But overlook that and it is friendly and welcoming. Harbourmaster good quality food and affordable

    Nice little harbour town.

Nice little harbour town. Lots of nice shops, restaurants and bars. Harbour is nice, but is currently being developed so construction work going on at the moment which somewhat spoils the views, but it will be fabulous once completed. Definitely worth a visit.

    Very friendly people.

Very friendly people. Food at The Harbourmaster was excellent. Nice coffee shops. Lovely little town. Shame the harbour was having so much remedial work done - I guess necessary to help with potential future flooding. Aberaeron is well placed for visits to lots of places. We liked Aberystwith and a visit to the Coastal Farm overlooking Cardigan Island., also a boat trip from New Quay, Strada Florida Abbey and Devils Bridge are also worth visits.

An awesome Welsh town, with independent shops (although one wouldn't let us in with our little dog, because another dog, several hours earlier, while we were still in England, had made a mess in the shop. Lost sales? Probably. Ironic, given that, outside the shop, there was a sign saying "Shop local, or bye bye local". Bizarre behaviour by the shop owner. Stopping a potential sale because of something that had happened several hours earlier. Nonsense business decision. ) Aberaeron is somewhere I could live.

Attractive seaside town with lively atmosphere.

Attractive seaside town with lively atmosphere. Some harbour and sea defensive works taking place, currently, but doesn't affect the town all that much. Nice coastal walk (6 miles) to New Quay along the Wales Coastal Path. Good choice of restaurants and pubs.

Lovely modern communal areas, but at the same time a lovely quirky old building, and one of Aberaeron's longest standing hotels (according to the Aberaeron Tourist Guide). Nice location on Alban Square - away from the noisy bars on the harbour, but only a couple of minures to get to any part of Aberaeron. Genuine Italian restaurant. Car park with easy access to hotel.

Had a very good evening meal and breakfast, the new owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. The room was clean and comfortable, quite small but fine, The new owners are working very hard to really make a success of this hotel and if our experience is anything to go by, they will. We would definitely go back, and can recommend it,

Great location, just off the Aberaeron Road. Quirky but great decor - all wood and concrete, but spotlessly clean. Staff were universally lovely - welcoming, personable and informative. Lovely breakfast, cooked to order.
