A really friendly, welcoming family. Nice and warm room. Separate shared kitchen, dining area however we were the only guests so had this area to ourselves. Greeted by the owner with the offer of a free beer or wine overlooking the pretty garden.

Great location to explore the Somme and its history.
Very pleasant and helpful owners.
Lots of walks next to you.
Villers-Bretonneux is a must see for Australians. We were fortunate to be there for ANZAC Day. Visited the primary school and museum in the days prior. On the day attended the Dawn service at the Australian War Memorial then also attended the service in V-B to honour the fallen French soldiers and villagers.
Very moving. Given two lapel pins by an elderly French woman at the service.

As an Australian, it provides a wonderful opportunity to learn of the important role played by the Australians in the liberation of VB during the first world war and of the relationship that exists between France and Australia. It is a perfect location to be able to visit the Australian War Memorial and to visit the John Monash centre. It is accessible by train from Amiens and is easy to walk around. It is also close to many other small villages which are easily reached by car and which can also be reached on bikes.

Even though restaurants were not very close by , the hosts directed us to the supermarket & we used the kitchen to prepare meals.
As Australians, we found the Australian National Memorial & the John Monash Centre very moving
A car is needed to visit there places unless you did a tour

The village of Villers-Bretonneaux was delightful.
The village of Villers-Bretonneaux was delightful. Considering that 80% of the village was destroyed during WW1, it has certainly retained its charm. Be aware, if you are catering for yourself that there is only one supermarket and it is not open on Sunday.
The villagers although inundated with Australian visitors are so polite and friendly. In fact they all seem to have adopted the motto of the Victorian school, Never Forget Australia.
