Its very expensive compared to other areas I have stayed, I wouldn't have stayed here if it wasn't for the cycling. You can get way better value else where. Its got everything you need, although was disappointed the gondola from the valley up, was running in the summer. would have expected this being a MTB resort in the summer.

Meribel - Mottaret is a great resort a little higher and smaller than Meribel. It’s ideal for families as has many ski-in out options. At Easter it was fairly quiet, no queues and plenty of Space. Weather was changeable but we had very good snow 3 /5 days. The restaurants are decent and there is a good supermarket. All very easy to navigate. ESF ski school recommended.

We went to meribel for downhill mountain biking.
We went to meribel for downhill mountain biking. While there are a few red and black trails, which favour a downhill bike, most trails and tracks are better suited with an enduro bike. If you don't mind a little bit of pushing uphill, it's fine either way.
Most "Bikepark" tracks are on the easier side suited well for beginners. Elite/pro tracks are harder to find, but those that exist are fun to ride with well built jumps and drops / obstacles. I wouldn't mind to have more of those though.
The enduro trails are panoramic and absolutely superb. The view from the mountains is just stunning. Descent is sometimes over 1000hm which is really amazing.
All three valleys can be accessed with chair lifts by a single ticket. The price is totally fair.
Summed up, for hardcore Bikepark riding an area like Chatel/Avoriaz/Morzine is probably a bit better, but for a good mixture of DH/Enduro Meribel and surrounding area is just perfect. Would bring both bikes next time though ;)

I have been to Meribel for a week's skiing before and had a great time. Now I visit often for just the day as we stay in Chamagny en vanoise which is just across the valley from Courcheval and has access to la Plagne, Champagny is a cute tradition French village and just feels like you're in France unlike some other ski resorts. From here we can ski La Plagne and Les Arcs or drive 20 mins to Courcheval to mix up the week a little.
Hotel location is excellent - genuinely ski-in / ski-out. The ski room is well organised and access could not be simpler with access also through to a good ski and boot-hire shop on the same level. Equally easy is the access to the piste next to the terrace. The food was always of a high standard.
The lounge was pleasant and leading to the large terrace. The bedrooms and bathrooms - with a bath - were clean and well-equipped.
Best of all, the staff are wonderful being both professional and friendly at the same time.
The location is great and the town center is very accessible on the footpath from the 5th floor. The 2 bedroom apartment with two showers and two toilets worked great. The kitchen facilities are very good and nothing is really lacking. Great to have the ski rental in the same building. We rented equipment and bought ski passes through the hotel, and that worked great. However, our ski passes were booked for the wrong days, but the hotel reception solved that problem within minutes.
The owner of the apartment is a gem! Extremely supportive, giving great advice when needed, responding questions in a very short time. We got a lot of great advice about the area in advance, so our stay was just a pleasure.
There is absolutely nothing to complain about the apartment. All what's needed is there. Short distance to supermarket, short distance to shuttle bus. Ski storage is very close. Slope begins 1 meter outside rear entrance.
It is well deserved top note!
lots of space, hot tub, pretty view, 7 minute walk to centre of town so quiet at night but bus stop by the door with excellent bus service, boot room with boot warmers, good sheets & pillows. wonderful experienced chalet hosts, who cooked delicious breakfast, afternoon tea & supper which included pre dinner canapés. Fire lit every evening which made it really cosy. Lovely week.
The hotel location is the best in Meribel. Everything is very close. The best is the escalators opposite from the hotel, that takes you directly to the slopes and La Chaudanne. Almost like ski-in ski-out.
It can be very noisy due to partying people, so it's not recommended for light sleepers. The rooms are of simple standard, but clean. You'll get value for the money.
this is an extraordinary experience. the level of service is phenomenal. ski in ski out even at the end of the season. on slope location, but very high so taxi required if going into town in the evening. lovely rooms, fresh decor, wonderful spa. boot room service where the staff help you into warm boots in the morning just amazing.
Clean modern and comfortable. Just enough space for a family of 4. Great location with regular bus access into Méribel. Ski in/out also a good location with 150m walk to the piste. Loads of cookware, cutlery and provisions for eating/cooking in.
Location was excellent, easy to find, ski in and out and close to the local Le Hameau area with supermarket, snow rentals and a few restaurants. Supermarket sells pizza and some pre-made fresh dishes to be reheated in the apartment.
I like the variety of slopes and that there are easy slopes and really steep slopes also. The lifts are quite fast. There is a big selection on where to ski and something new to discover every day.
Great location and facilities Ski and boot room allowed for easy access for ski in and out. All meals were value for money and staff very helpful. Excellent spot. Very effieicnt.
The location was perfect - right in the centre of the town, as close as you can get to the ski lifts, lots of atmostphere and a lovely balcony to enjoy the setting!
