Les Rives du Plantié was a lovely oasis for our first night in France. We had requested two rooms close to one another and were given adjoining rooms, perfect! Our daughter had her independence and privacy without us worrying! We ate in the hotel's restaurant, the food was excellent. I do often prefer meat-free options when eating out, and this can be a problem. Les Rives du Plantié was a deliciously pleasant surprise. I had a mezze salad platter, which was, in all honesty, the best salad I have ever had. The team were very accommodating to all of our requests and patient with our poor French and very kind to our daughter. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean we all slept well. The location was quiet and beautiful. It was a fabulous experience for our first night in the country - and it set the tone for a lovely week.

We visited Le Temple-sur-Lot for two reasons. It was on the way to our Gite and it is home to well known water gardens. We didn't explore the area, only drove through it and visited the gardens. I would absolutely recommend a visit to the gardens if you are in the area, they are stunning with a very pleasant cafe. We spent a very enjoyable half day there. If you like water or plants do add it to your to-do list!

Last here some 40 years ago on school exchange so nostalgic return. Enjoyed wandering round the ancient 13th century Bastide village and the water lily garden well worth a visit. Water sports centre expanded but no longer open to general public, but believe river is accessible. Good cycle paths to explore surrounding area. Interesting insight into agriculture of the area at Prune museum in Granges sur Lot and Pujols, one of France's prettiest villages also in the vicinity.
