I had the pleasure of renting a beautiful house in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, France, for a few days with my family, and I can't say enough positive things about our experience. This house truly exceeded our expectations in every way.
First and foremost, the house itself was impeccably designed and maintained. The interior boasted a modern and stylish renovation, making us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in. With two spacious bathrooms, our family had all the convenience we needed. It was evident that the owners took great care in ensuring every detail was perfect.
One of the highlights for us was the thoughtfulness displayed in providing children's toys. Our child had a blast playing with the toys provided, which kept them entertained and allowed us to relax and enjoy our stay even more. It's touches like these that make a vacation truly special and memorable.
The location of the house on a charming, cozy street added to the overall appeal. It was such a pleasure to wake up in the morning and step outside to take in the picturesque surroundings. The ambiance of the neighborhood perfectly complemented the beauty of the house itself.
Our stay in this house in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin was a delightful experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-appointed home away from home in the heart of France. Thank you to the owners for providing such a wonderful retreat for our family. We are grateful for the memories we created here.
I must also highlight the exceptional responsiveness and helpfulness of the property owners during our stay. We encountered a minor issue with the front door lock, which had a special security feature that we couldn't figure out. However, the owners quickly sent someone over to demonstrate how it worked, and their prompt assistance was greatly appreciated. It's clear they take the comfort and safety of their guests seriously.

Our stay at Le pigonnier was wonderful. We used it as an overnight stop driving from the south of France to Epernay - our only mistake was not staying longer!
Our host at La Pigionnier was really lovely & welcoming. The breakfast was amazing & the accommodation very clean & well decorated & maintained. It is extra special to stay somewhere where the hosts so clearly want to look after their guests and are proud of making sure everything at the accommodation is perfect.
We hope to return next year and use this as our base to visit some more chateaus in the Loire Valley.
Our cheapest but best accommodation by far during our 2 week tour of France. Highly recommended.
Only thing to note is that dinner at La Pigionnier is only available on the weekends- but plenty of local options.
From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome.
From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome. The house is just wonderful. It is spacious, calm and peaceful. It has works of art, statues, ceramics prints and paintings all of which are interesting and add to the feeling of being somewhere special. Our room was spacious and delightful. It was spotlessly clean. It had tasteful, well chosen furniture, and a ceiling fan that was completely silent.
After we had settled in the room we had a glass of wine in the garden under the trees.
Our only regret was we did not eat there. it is clear that our host is a very good cook. We saw the meal he was preparing for the other guests.
The breakfast was lovely. We had croissants we had seen being cooked the night before, there were 4 different sorts of jam made from fruits from his garden. There was a whole tray of different sorts of local honey. The crowning point for us was delicious egg made from the eggs of his hens what had a run and luxurious house just outside the window in our room. We could see they are very happy hens.
We ate in the Auberge next door which was easily a poor second to eating in the accomodation.
We were enroute for somewhere else so did not explore the area much but we are going back to stay in the Clos des Poulies for longer and are looking forward to walks in the forest and so on.

we used the area as an overnight stay en route from south of France to Calais crossing to return to the UK. We arrived in the evening and set off soon after breakfast. We did not look at anything in the close vicinity, but noted that it is about 30 min drive from Chambord Chateau, which is somewhere that I would like to visit in the future.

We randomly chose a place to stop over on our way back from vacationing in the south of France. Well, we were surprised by this busy village 25 minutes from Orléans. The area is surrounded by forests and lakes where we spent a good day wandering with our dog. We also visited the Château La Ferte Saint-Aubin which is undergoing restoration.

Twelve years ago I had to drive past this chateau every weekend travelling from England but never had the time to visit. I was missing so much - my stay here now really was like a dream !

Explore guest reviews of hotels in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin
From the outside this hotel looks very promising, several companies have sessions there. It's in the middle of a park with some animals and has a (small) pool. The room was spacey, with an ok bathroom. The room is directly under the roof, this gives it an authentic feeling, but also has it disadvantages. We ate at the restaurant, it had good food.
We thought that staying one night is fine, but longer we would not do. Probably more focused on the businesses staying there.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant served an exceptional dinner and a lovely breakfast. The grounds of the hotel are amazing. We had a lovely stay, went on several long walks on the hotel grounds, and a lovely run with our Labrador. There are also sheep, goats and geese roaming the property.
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.
We were greeted with a smile and received a warm welcome. L'Oree des Chênes is a beautiful hotel with well tendered grounds. We took our small dog with us and we would stay there again. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Very nice location and interesting property, very different from the ‘chain’ hotels. Good breakfast included in the price. Staff very helpful and friendly.
