Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. The view into the garden watching the "Gardener" work was relaxing.

A lovely place to stay on the edge of town. Our host was very knowledgeable about local history and places of interest.

We were very focused on revisiting the Normandy Landings, so the general requirements for a family holiday were never considered, however I could see that the whole area would lend itself to other reasons for holidaying there.

The location was ideal for visiting Omaha beach, its museum, the American military cemetery at Colleville s/Mer and the Bayeux tapestry. However, parking in Douvres town centre was really difficult which meant that we didn't get to the restaurant that we wanted to visit and opted for eating at home.

Nice charming historic town set back just enough from the coast to rid of (some of the) tourists, but with plenty of things going for it as a destination: decent size, nice older buildings, various restaurants, a beautiful brick church, city hall, a movie theater...
Town allows swift access to the beaches nearby (Lion sur mer, Luc sur mer) by bicycle via nice bike paths.
