It's a 3 star hotel in a retail park on the outskirts of town, so temper your expectations on its setting! But we found it provided a very comfortable base for our family weekend trip exploring the WWI battlefields in the area. The staff were very helpful, the breakfast was good, and the kids loved the pool (quite cold) and spas, and the pool and foosball tables. It's not far to drive into the centre of Cambrai for some dinner either (which is worth doing).

The staff were very welcoming. The waiter on Sunday evening was happy to allow 2 not very hungry people to share a meal. An unexpected kindness!

If you are interested in WW1 history then Cambrai makes a good base. We had no such interest and I didn't see anything in Cambrai that would make me want to spend more than a night there. If you have crossed from Dover to Calais and plan to drive through the Alsace then an overnight stop in Cambrai will break up your journey nicely.

If you like to do a bit of exploring and a nice evening walk there is a canal that leads to a small circular wood walk: Le Bois Chenu: Urban Ecological Park.
The canal is ideal for those who also like an evening run as the ground is firm and flat.

We planned our overnight in Cambrai as part of a long trip after 2 weeks camping in Brittany and Normandy. I've never felt so underwhelmed by a place, it's what people visiting Yorkshire must feel like when they pass through Goole!
Fortunately we visited many other towns during our trip with most exceeding our expectations, unfortunately Cambrai was the last on our itinerary leaving us preferring to have kept driving.
As a cultural, Great war commemorative town, Ypres it is not!

We chose the area as there is plenty of historical interest.
We chose the area as there is plenty of historical interest. The lady at the Tourist Information gave us a map of Cambai offering 3 different historical walks, which we enjoyed. There was a large street market on the Sunday.
We visited the house where Wilfred Owen wrote his last letter to his mother as well as the Matisse Museum. We visited some of the war cemeteries too.
We ate at the restaurants in the town square but found less choice on the Sunday as not all open in the evening.
I stayed at this hotel as part of a motorcycle tour with three friends.
The hotel owner was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, facilitating a later check in for us. The parking on site is private and secure. There was a good breakfast at a small additional cost.
This was our last hotel of a weeks tour and the location of Cambrai, 90 miles from Calais, makes this a good stop for anyone who sets off from the UK later in the day, or doesn't want an epic long ride on the last day.
Cambrai itself is worth further exploration.
We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived at 11.45pm. Extremely helpful staff who took us to our rooms, and directed us to their EV point which was free. The wonderful man on reception even suggested we store our bikes in a secure room overnight. He helped with all this. This is an exceptionally clean hotel, with crisp white bed linen and comfortable beds. Our breakfast was delicious. Thank you
we stayed here on our way to Austria on a 9 day tour. it was in ideal location only an hour or so from coquelles.
it was a very comfy, clean quiet hotel, lovely welcome form the receptionist.
we had a few beers in their beer garden and headed off to a local buffalo grill for some food.
the hotel was ideal for us as it was cheap and cheerful but clean & tidy in a great location for our trip
The restaurant downstrairs served excellent steak and wine and the staff's service way far above 3 star hotel restaurant.
We also had a family party at the private room for 9 people. The of the restaurant staff service gunuine, attentive and discreat - we could focus on our guests and need not to remind the waiters to bring this or that as the service was perfectly aligned and timed.
We were on ground floor, no manager on duty, went next door to Ibis, to book in. Down hill from there. On entering the smoke was all through the hallways. Guests not going outside to smoke.
The covers on the bed smelt of smoke.
No toilet paper in the only available toilet on the ground floor, so had to go upstairs for both shower and toilet.
Petite déjeuner was OK for this class hotel. The location, by the train station, is excellent. It is also a short walk to Cambrai's busy commercial center. The staff was efficient and friendly, especially when assisting me with a minor international emergency situation that exceeded my phone's ability to communicate.
The hotel was comfortable enough, quiet and very convenient, just a short distance from the motorway. It was easy to book and pay for via Booking.com and check-in was simple. Breakfast the next morning was a good range of cooked and cold options, all nicely presented, and with fresh orange juice, tea and decent coffee.
Very large, updated, clean room. Park like setting. Phillipe and Bruno are very helpful. Helped us explore the city and make dinner reservations. We stayed in Cambrai to tour Great War monuments/battlefields. This was a very convenient place.
We love this hotel and it’s history. We have stayed in the chalets, the Orangery and now the actual main building which was really nice. Stayed in room 7 which hopefully will have the jacuzzi working soon.
Great service from the staff.
The hotel (or rather motel) has easy access to and from the highway which was our main motivation for booking it. The car park is gated and the reception is open 24h - perfect. Breakfast was very simple but included fresh baguette.
Nice breakfast and great to have a drink in the bar in the evening.
For the rest it was a clean room and location is calm.
Fine for a night, parking is great at the hotel and close to the highway.
The location was good and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a retail park which was handy for a bit of shopping and still quiet enough especially in the evening.
The rooms were comfortable.
The hotel is in a great location. The staff was super nice, knew English and was super helpful. The hotel is decorated in a modern classical style and felt magical. We will definitely come back.
