We had a fantastic stay here! We booked last minute, and it couldn’t have turned out better. The room was clean, cozy, and beautifully set up, and we slept so well. Everything was perfect. The property is wonderful and calm. The hosts are extremely nice. The breakfast was excellent with fresh and varied products. The rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully decorated.
The garden is large and well kept, with a nice swimming pool, and provides comfortable seating arrangements in the shadow to enjoy a book outside.

Wonderfully equipped and furnished gite in the grounds of a beautiful former wine chateau. We loved the area - peaceful and quiet with a number of little villages to visit. Paul and Ann were the perfect hosts. They met us on our arrival and gave us a tour of the estate and Suggestions of places to see. We went to the nearby small family Cognac distillery, Conte & Filles, run by two sisters where we given a very informative and personal tour followed by a tasting of their fabulous cognac.

Lovely old restored french house. Beds extremely comfortable and furnishings in keeping with the house. Nice touch offering us an evening meal as we got there quite late. Soup especially was very tasty.
The hosts were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in you as a person.

Cannot recommend, was so disappointed with the accommodation beyond the reception (located in the restaurant bar) despite having paid we returned our keys and checked again within about 30mins. Its perfect for lonely lorry drivers I guess.

Barbezieux is unfortunately a ghost town.
Barbezieux is unfortunately a ghost town. Mid August, 70% of the shops were empty (permanently closed) and there was nowhere to get a coffee except the hotel. Very little shade, nowhere nice to stroll after a long car journey.

I reserved the room thru Booking.com and was informed the price of the room was €45-00 Total . The Hotel overcharged me taking £48-83 Sterling . The Hotel doesn't want to rectify this neither do Booking.com .
Relais de Barbezieux doesn't show on my statement so Booking.com refuse to rectify the overcharge ! The Hotels insist they are correct !
Will be booking future hotels thru a different website !

This is a Relais hotel aimed at truck drivers. However it's in an ideal location for me as I drive through France and Spain. The hotel rooms are quite basic but clean and functional. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel which does a good evening meal with beer or wine. Breakfast is good value too but a little basic - coffee, orange juice and croissant and bread roll with butter and jam. It's a 25 minute walk to the village of Barbezieux which has some bars and restaurants.
The Relais de Barbezieux has a very large lorry park and caters for truck drivers. However, there is also an accommodation block for motorists, which features small, but usable, ensuite rooms.
It is a convenient stopping point when travelling through France, which we shall probably use again
The hotel is centrally located in this small town with free garage parking. The staff are lovely, very helpful. The rooms are not expensive and nice and big, clean, and the beds are very comfortable. We had a good meal in the restaurant and enjoyed our overnight stop.
