The town architecture is very attractive with tall timber framed, hung tile 16th century buildings, cobbled streets and a pleasant "Old World" feel, it is well worth a visit. The bars and restaurants, although slightly limited in quantity, offered pleasant service and reasonable fare. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. However, the town suits the more "Mature" visitor (As indeed we are!), there are certainly no discos or a lively bar or two to attract younger tourists, and stop younger locals leaving the town for the big city lights. Interestingly, this was mentioned to us on several occasions by residents throughout our break, who fear the town's future will wither & die without investment to attract the next generation? Osterode council elders & tourism office please note.
Warm welcome from the hosts including a great briefing on the town for services. My booking included board and breakfast. Breakfast was fresh and included cereals, yoghurts, cold cuts, breads and eggs. The Hotel Harz was close to metro station and to town amenities. Overall a positive experience.
Fabulous hotel in a fabulous location for the Harz. The staff are always on hand and very helpful. The breakfast is an excellent buffet style. The rooms we requested met our requirements and we were delighted to be returning guests at the Harzer Hof.
This place is exactly what the hotel should be. Safe harbour on your journey. Very attentive host who made me feel home and helped me sort out my broken motorbike by making calls for me, since I don't speak german. I will definitely come again.
Everything. Nice location in between small hills near the river in a little village. The hotel was cozy and clean, friendly staff, good choice for breakfast, dinner and drinks. Spa and wellness center was also good.
