We are fans of Fachwerk, the traditional German half-timbered style of building. Homberg has about 300 of them, concentrated in the Old Town (Altstadt), about two blocks uphill from the hotel. It also has a very picturesque town square (Markt) with restaurants serving people outside in it during nice weather. Add an interesting little museum of the area to this. And then there is the great view from the top of the hill where the castle once stood - just some fragments of its wall remain, with a rebuilt tower, and a good restaurant just outside the wall.
