An interesting & elegant hotel in an amazing old village within a beautiful setting, the garden is really outstanding. Restaurant offers good GF options for dinner and a super selection for breakfast, which we ate in the garden.

Large house with a great kitchen and a lovely garden. The bedrooms are mostly European style twins (two mattresses together). The decor is really nice and tradional.
Location couldn't be better, just 50m from a nice bakery and 100m from the town centre.
Outside is a large sitting area, perfect for families or groups.
Anja the manager is really helpful. She allowed us to park our motorcycles in the garden behind the secure gates.

Very clean and tidy place. Agnes is a lovely host and even offered us breakfast. It was one of the best breads I have tried in Germany. She even gave a hot water bottle without hesitation. Location is only 10 mins walking distance to city centre. The kitchen is also well equipped even though we did use it.

One of my favorite towns in all of Europe. It has a laid back atmosphere, but a the same time is pretty vibrant with a lovely town square and great restaurants! The train station and being nearby Offenburg made it so easy to get around to other places in the area. We absolutely plan to come back and hopefully next time for even longer!

Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest.
Great place to set your base for visiting the Black Forest. Less busy than Freiburg and relatively close to Triberg and Baden Baden, which we also liked but are more mixed with modern architecture. Also very close to old castels and other nice quiet beatiful towns like Haslach in Kinzigtal, Zell am Harmersbach and others.

Good restaurants and cafes for breakfast. .very good ice cream parlour. theres even a chance to do a lamp light tour with a night watch man as they did in the olden days ... a lovely walk through a vineyard to a church on the hill. All our train journeys were free with the Konus Karte.. given by the hotelier. We travelled back to Basel Airport free of charge . the train takes you to lovely little places like Schiltach and Haslach .. so pretted and typical of the Black Forest ..... dont forget to try the Black Forest gateau !!

Gengenbach itself is a very small little town but quite cute. The food is predominantly Italian - still don't know why. In town itself I don't think you need more than a day, but you are close to Strassburg and several other small towns, hikes and wineries nearby.

We chose Gengenbach as a base as it was easy to get train to other places and go for local walks. It is a pleasant village which is quite picturesque. It is not touristy. There are quite a few restaurants. Menus only in German so make sure you have a phrase book!

What an amazing village and the location of the property was perfect. In the evenings the entire family (8) met at the cafe owned by the property owners and had ice cream, dessert, wine and or beer. DELICIOUS!! It was a lovely way to end each day. We all want to come back!

everything was so awesome. check in was easy, room is comfortable and staff over there are so friendly & helpful. love the breakfast and scramble eggs. Accessibility to the main gengenbach town is just 4-5 mins walk with many food choices. if you have a car, driving to triberg waterfall is just a 30-40 mins distance.
Beautiful spacious accommodation with many thoughtful amenities, and our host was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. The location couldn't be any better, centrally located in the beautiful town of gengenbach just steps away from the town square and maybe exceptional restaurants. Highly recommend!
Pool and spa were very nice. Room was large and well appointed. Location was perfect with a market close by and a short 5 minute walk into the centre of Gengenbach which is so lovely. We used this as a base to explore the Black Forest region. Highly recommend as parking is plentiful as well as free.
Very friendly welcoming and helpful staff, cosy family atmosphere, excellent dinner in the Hotel’s Restaurant. Great location for visitors - very convenient.
We booked a car park space when reserving - everything went very well!
