This hotel is an old castle and truly an experience of a lifetime if you want to feel in a fairy tale. The deers running on the surrounding grounds, the landscape, and the surrounding nature can evoke a surreal experience, as much as the haunting details of mounted animals, taxidermy, old dolls in cribs. Highly recommend.
A Medieval Castle surrounded by rural country side. Picturesque location, close proximity to Rothenburg approximately 14 minute drive.
It was a good atmosphere in the hotel. The staff were attentive, helpful and accommodating. The staff spoke good English.
We ate dinner at the restaurant, it was good value for money.
Breakfast was an additional cost and a buffet, it has a good selection of food.

This was an amazing place to stay and the price was great for what we got. It is out in the countryside and although you are in a castle that is 1000 years old and it has the feel of an ancient and historic place, the rooms were clean and updated and had all the modern touches needed to make it comfortable. Hosts were accomodating and even allowed us to order ahead and kept a cold plate for us to eat, as we had a late arrival after the kitchen closed.
The location is great, on the footsteps of a castle (hotel and restaurant) and a 10mins drive from Rothenburg on of Germany's most beautiful towns. We got a 2 bedroom apartment for £100 with breakfast, absolute bargain. At night the place was absolutely packed with people coming for dinner, it has about 100 tables inside and outside, the food was nice and not expensive. All and all you couldn't ask for more for the price paid.
1. Good location. On the top of a mountain in Colmberg. Can see the sunset, sunrise and morning fog, especially the morning fog is very beautiful.
2. Long history and interesting exploring experience. Also have animals near the berg.
3. Good service. We need to leave to airport in the morning, give us earlier breakfast than their open time.
4. Good facilities. Have enough hot washing water.
5. Good food.
The staff was so friendly and the food was great! We have a 2-year-old, so it was great to have the play area for him while we could eat and have a drink. The views were stunning and they did a great job of combining modern elements with the old feel of the castle.
The town is lovely, the castle nearby adds to the charm. The premises of the hotel are well kept and pleasant. Unfortunately, there was hunting happening in the vicinity of the hotel during our stay, therefore we could not take a walk in the surrounding woods.
we had difficulties getting to the Hotel due to Road closures, but when finally arriving the greeting was great. The restaurant served a great dinner. The next morning we had a great Breakfast. This place is highly recommendable.
Colmberg Castle was a wonderful place to stay. The room was very clean and had all necessary items. The views from the room was amazing. Our meal from the restaurant was delicious and delivered quickly and piping hot.
