The big pros: 10-15 minute walk to local access of the beach, relatively comfortable beds (the mattresses appeared to be new, and had comfort tops), and the pool is set back into the trees, so it feels very immersed in the rainforest. The two staff members we interacted with were also very friendly, as was the very charming rescue dog in the office.

NICE TOWN BUT READ THIS ONE WARNING
The town is small and nice and have a lovely vibe to it, apart than one WARNING- there are thieves in ALL the beaches, waiting to break into your car and also take your bag from the beach in one second- they are highly trained.
They have a new AI remote control which copy your car code as soon as you lock your car with a remote key - DO NOT USE A REMOTE KEY - then they simply pass by, open your car and take everything in seconds.
The police will do nothing, and if you have no 100% insurance you will lose everything. This is true to all the beaches in the south, and perhaps to more places in Costa Rica. I lost 10,000 euro worth of gear.

Uvita is still an 'old school' destination IMO.
Uvita is still an 'old school' destination IMO. Had not been to Uvita in many years. The Pura Vida feeling is very much alive in Uvita. Development has been made for sure. The small beach town feel remains for all to enjoy. Backpackers can be seen on foot. The accomadations vary widely in price and 'quality' and there is lodging available here for nearly all budgets/tastes. All conveniences are very nearby including restaurants, transport, lodging, supermarket(s), ATMs, souvenir shops, coffee shops, sodas, Urgent Care and friendly people!

Elegant resort, quiet, immersed in nature with breath taking views of the sea from the most exquisite villas. The staff is quiet, kind, professional, the ambience is luxurious but not ostentatious. No loud music, no tvs, a temple of peace and relaxation for couples. The spa is a very upscale experience immersed in the jungle. The biggest surprise is the food: curated by a chef who truly understands simple, fresh taste for elegant meals matched with wonderful wines (and we are picky Italian foodies!). The 4x4 drive up to Kura was also so much fun and one of the highlights of the trip. Highly recommend, a world away from the obnoxious, loud, ostentatious luxurious all-inclusive resorts which have destroyed local cultures around the world.

Uvita is a lovely area to stay in, with beautiful beaches and plenty of waterfalls to visit in the area. We recommend taking a trip to visit the mangroves in Sierpes. Our kids loved the surfing lessons they had here.

Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica.
Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica. It's huge, you feel alone on the beach. The wildlife is beautiful. Tons of restaurants and places to walk. There are different beach sectors that you can chose from. It is a National Park, so you have to pay, but it is well worth it. One ticket gets you onto all the beaches. Staff in the Nationals Park is very helpful and there are patrols on the beach from the police and the National Park Guards.
The host, Wendy, did an exceptional job of making us feel comfortable and welcome. She shared her experience growing up in the area, helped us make dinner, and even took us to the beach one day. The pricing was very reasonable and the location next to the bus stop was optimal for my travel plans. Wendy spoke very good English and gave us tips for navigating Uvita and Dominical. We had different amounts of friends staying on different nights and Wendy didn't make us change rooms or cause any issue with this.
We likes this stay & the vibe in Uvita so much that we prolonged our stay, even tho we already booked another accommodation in Jaco which was not refundable- screw it.
The owner & also host Heri is amazing.
In the evening you can eat spanish at his restaurant next to the villas.
His staff are very friendly & there are two super cute cats as well ;)
Make sure to book a table at least once during your stay. He preps the whole food with so much love and passion- i had the best Fiduea ever.
We loved everything about this property. It was so beautiful, quiet, and you are surrounding by nature. Cory was so welcoming and helpful, and we loved the bowl of fresh fruit upon arrival. He gave us lots of suggestions about the Uvita area. We had the best meal at Seba’s thanks to his suggestion. We enjoyed chatting with him each day.
We loved seeing toucans and green parrots right off our porch and hearing the howler monkeys. Uvita is the most beautiful place and we will be back.
We ended our 2-week trip there and we could not have expected a better ending.
Probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The view of the jungle and the ocean were truly amazing. Very interesting and delicious vegan dishes, great electronic lounge music and overall private and relaxing atmosphere.
Very friendly staff (including the owner).
The hot tub and pool area was as well incredible with comfortable sunbeds.
We would love to come back!
We Loved our stay at the Tucan Hotel. You can see how much work the owners have put into the hotel in the past year: It looks fabulous. It's comfy, spacious, and feels intimate. The staff was so lovely. I also absolutely loved the presence of the animals around. It's right next to the big street in Uvita and yet far enough so we don't hear the cars all the time. The supermarket and many restaurants are also nearby. Very lovely stay!
This was the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in. Photos don’t do it justice. It is utterly beautiful and unique. Small family business and owners on site. Very laid back but highest quality service. Had the best massage there. Kids enjoyed it too. Family suite perfect and we had room 1 which is the only one with an outdoor terrace. Vegetarian food was plenty and lush. Cannot rate this highly enough.
Close to the waterfall cascada verde. The waterfall itself is pretty cool, but not really a place I'd hang for hours as it's pretty crowded and small.
The place is super cozy with lots of hammocks and chairs. Great view over the jungle with a natural feel to it. Great for watching birds and chilling out.
The kitchen is awesome as well. Probably the best of any hostel I've ever stayed at.
Oscar, the owner was the best! He was so helpful and friendly. I don't speak Spanish that well, but he was very patience and helped me understand what he was saying. My Spanish improved thanks to Oscar :) We could do our laundry and use his kitchen. The WiFi worked very fast! The house was near Uvita National Park. And Oscar has a cute dog😍
Situated on a dirt road, away from traffic noises. Nice pool area and the room was spacious enough and cleaned every day. Nice that you can park the car inside the gate. I loved how everywhere in Uvita you feel close to the nature, birds fly by, even the scarlet macaws and we saw a hummingbird one morning just behind the hotels gate.
Great place for visiting Uvita! Conveniently located close to restaurants and the beach, the hotel offers clean and airconditioned rooms, a private swimming pool and a washing/drying machine (which came in very handy halfway through our holiday). Communication also went smoothly. Highly recommended!
Great atmosphere, relaxed laid back vibe.
The owner Cesar kindly helped me with a bunch of stuff here, they also offer bicycles for renting which makes traveling around uvitas convenient. Dorms are good, sufficiently ventilated. The showers/bathrooms are excellent and clean.
Completely exceeded our expectations. We loved the concept of coconuts and sleeping in the middle of nature. The best thing was the staff, incredible service, very focus on details. Carlos, the manager, was really attentive and always willing to help.
Best stay ever!
staff was amazing
hotel location convenient to town and beach
nice pool with shallow end and waterfall feature
best gallo pinto I've ever had!
room was spacious
had outdoor balcony
fabulous food options within walking distance
kitchen was well equipped
The breakfast was excellent. I was sad to miss my 2nd pancake day because I had an early meet up for diving. The room was in good shape and I was upgraded for staying 6 nights in the off season. Staff was very helpful. The fruit salad is the best dish.
This is not a big urban hotel, this is in jungle great view off road back woods monkeys at night living. If you are the fussy type this is not for you. If you love amazing views from bed, adventure, and being in the environment it's a full ten.
One of the best hostels we ever stayed. We slept in a private double room in the new part. Great vibe. Clean. Nice people. Quiet but also cozy. Nature all around. Very user friendly: every detail is kept in mind. Would recommend for sure!!
The location had the best view and the property was even better than we imagined! The host was super friendly, accommodating and met all of our needs. Highly recommend this property for a trip to Uvita!
I love the place one of my best vacation all the staff are so friendly special luis bartender , Adan receptionist I would highly recommend and I’ll definitely go back I love Costa Rica pura vida!!
We loved everything about this place! It was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Costa Rica.
