The big pros: 10-15 minute walk to local access of the beach, relatively comfortable beds (the mattresses appeared to be new, and had comfort tops), and the pool is set back into the trees, so it feels very immersed in the rainforest. The two staff members we interacted with were also very friendly, as was the very charming rescue dog in the office.

Uvita is a lovely area to stay in, with beautiful beaches and plenty of waterfalls to visit in the area. We recommend taking a trip to visit the mangroves in Sierpes. Our kids loved the surfing lessons they had here.

Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica.
Uvita is my favorite beach in Costa Rica. It's huge, you feel alone on the beach. The wildlife is beautiful. Tons of restaurants and places to walk. There are different beach sectors that you can chose from. It is a National Park, so you have to pay, but it is well worth it. One ticket gets you onto all the beaches. Staff in the Nationals Park is very helpful and there are patrols on the beach from the police and the National Park Guards.

Uvita was ungodly hot -- so hot that we really couldn't enjoy the sights. Even the ocean is hot. An airconditioned hotel room is a must! Even if there are many interesting birds and animals here, unless you have a high heat tolerance, you'll likely be miserable.

It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica.
It wasn’t my favorite place in Costa Rica. Part of the problem was that it was so unbearably hot. I couldn’t go out and walk around comfortably. I didn’t go to the beach because of the heat and that would’ve been a big attraction also although my hotel was not far from town because of the heat again I found it unbearable to walk into town and walk around which I’d like to do when I’m traveling, so basically, my problems with AveUvita were weather related

Uvita is not the typical beach town, as it's very spread out and you need a car or a taxi to move around. In Uvita, you can visit the Marino Ballena National Park, which is possibly the most famous attraction in the area, where you can do whale-watching boat tours and other water sports tours like snorkeling and scuba diving.
We visited the Marino Ballena National Park and found its whale-shaped beach very suggestive and unique. However, we were also very underwhelmed by the poor housekeeping of the park. There was rubbish everywhere and this is disappointing and upsetting given that this is supposed to be a protected natural reserve and you also pay for the access at a substantial price per person, which should guarantee thorough housekeeping.
We went also to Playa Hermosa on our way to Uvita, but the amount of signs warning visitors of possible thieves, ruins a little bit of the vibe and it's not very relaxing having to watch your back all the time. Overall the beach is very nice and nothing happened to us. Since Playa Hermosa is also free to access, we recommend a visit, at least a stop by.

The beach and marine park area are well worth visiting.
The beach and marine park area are well worth visiting. Costs approx $6 which is very reasonable for Costa Rica. We saw humpback whales and heard them singing on our boat tour. We also snorkelled. It wasn't the right season for dolphins (they come in autumn).
There is not much to Uvita itself. It's very spread out and hard to walk around. Most of the roads are unpaved and dusty. It's perfect for a bike though. Many places (including the marine park) close down at 6pm, including most of the tour operators. The restaurants are good. There is a yoga place there but it only seems to have classes Mon-Wed.
The Tracopa bus service in the area (and from SJ) is very comfortable, punctual and reasonably priced. However you really need a car to explore the area properly - waterfalls etc.
My favorite place! If you're willing to be slightly do-it-yourself (turning on a generator mid-shower), you will be rewarded with an absolutely exquisite place to stay. The view is outstanding of the water and surrounding coast line, the cottage is spacious and light filled, the pool heavenly (best view ever), and the staff (Nicholas) so down to earth, friendly and informative. Flowers, cows, amazing birds, butterfliey all around. We absolutely loved our stay for our family (one 7yo). We just regret we didn't stay longer.
We were staying in Uvita for scuba diving and this property was right by the scuba shop. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful with recommendations outside of our stay at the property as well. The place is really cozy and you can tell the owner puts in a lot of effort into making it unique. There is no hot water, but the shower was extremely refreshing after a run (and it looks like showering under a waterfall in a jungle). The AC in the units works great - we had one of the best sleeps in a long time.
We ended our 2-week trip there and we could not have expected a better ending.
Probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The view of the jungle and the ocean were truly amazing. Very interesting and delicious vegan dishes, great electronic lounge music and overall private and relaxing atmosphere.
Very friendly staff (including the owner).
The hot tub and pool area was as well incredible with comfortable sunbeds.
We would love to come back!
Beds were comfy and clean. Reception was responsive and accommodating with a late check-in and allowing a late-checkout as well, which was really helpful. It's a very short walk to the beach which was stunning and pristine. Uvita is a cute, laid-back beach town, and in retrospect, I wish I would have spent more time there. At Yuli Hotel, I would have liked to have stayed longer to have been able to try out the yoga classes they offer above the restaurant.
This place is indeed an Oasis. Michelle and Sebastian are heartwarming friendly and helpful and it felt more like staying with friends than a hotel. We weren't missing anything and we also had the most comfy bed and the best food of the whole trip there. The way they live self-sufficient and sustainable in the middle of the jungle is also very impressive. Saludos to them and to their junglebaby Kaia and babydog Leo
Sylvain connected to me immediately after booking to touch base and keep me posted with tours he helped set up while we visited UVITA. His Faremiti Hotel is exceptional in location and design; and Sylvain himself could not have been any nicer and available to us. We wished we stayed longer there and will definitely be in touch with him for future visits.
Oscar, the owner was the best! He was so helpful and friendly. I don't speak Spanish that well, but he was very patience and helped me understand what he was saying. My Spanish improved thanks to Oscar :) We could do our laundry and use his kitchen. The WiFi worked very fast! The house was near Uvita National Park. And Oscar has a cute dog😍
A beautiful place with top hosts! I had a wonderful large room surrounded by the beautiful garden. very clean, in walking distance to the national park, the hosts help with organizing activities. Best of all is the Food! Authentic Italian dinner and the most tasty breakfasts I had in all of Costa Rica! This is the place to stay in Uvita.
Beautiful hotel a little aside from Uvitas main street. There is a nice French bakery right next to it and you can get pretty fast to the beach which is part of the national park. The host did a marvelous job so we would have a good stay and we enjoyed the spots he recommended us. Many thanks for the great time and all the best.
Best “room” I’ve ever rented. Breath taking views, private hot tub with view, large bathtub and beautiful open shower area with view. Bed is centered in the middle of the room and you wake up to a panoramic ocean view. Staff is attentive, will go above and beyond to assist in making your stay the best it can be.
Great place for visiting Uvita! Conveniently located close to restaurants and the beach, the hotel offers clean and airconditioned rooms, a private swimming pool and a washing/drying machine (which came in very handy halfway through our holiday). Communication also went smoothly. Highly recommended!
Art Villas is truly superb and exceeded our expectations - it is beautifully presented and the gardens are some of the best I’ve seen for a hotel (and not gimmicky at all). Breakfast was also amazing - wish we stayed longer as we missed waking up with the jungle !
it was a cheap no frills stay. great value for the price. host is very nice and they are responsive and accomadating. Dont expect luxury stay, but at the same the price is very cheap and AC works and clean enough
The location had the best view and the property was even better than we imagined! The host was super friendly, accommodating and met all of our needs. Highly recommend this property for a trip to Uvita!
The location is great to amenities and rests along the jungle…best of both worlds! We liked the outdoor kitchen and our host, Tana, is wonderful and goes above and beyond to assists here guests.
the staff was so nice and helpful, the hotel is also very new and amazing! the pool was great it’s in a good area close to the beach definitely recommend if your going to uvita!
