Incredible! An absolute must stay, hidden away slightly off the tourist trail. We loved our cabin which felt like a piece of luxury. The spa area was lovely. We did the farm tour and chocolate making experience which is a must do. I'd recommend booking 2 nights if you can.

The location within the valley was great, with short walks through the neighborhood to other areas full of birds. There was a very good restaurant about 100 meters away and a well furnished kitchen.
The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean, and sitting on the verandah drinking our morning coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon listening to and watching the birds was very relaxing and pleasant.
There were panederias, restaurants and markets within easy walking distance of the property.

Absolutely gorgeous area and a must-see for nature lovers!
Absolutely gorgeous area and a must-see for nature lovers! Tenorio National Park was wonderful, although quite crowded, so get there as early as possible. I highly recommend the hanging bridges trail at the Heliconias lodge because it was incredible and hardly anyone was there. We also got to see toucans on the road up there.

The town is essentially a series of businesses along Rte 6, a major road heading North/South. It’s about 1 mile in length. Beautiful vistas coming from the south and heading between the 2 volcanoes of Tenorio and Miravalles. The town is not picturesque but it’s surroundings are. Besides hiking to the waterfall and the lagoon of Rio Celeste, which is an amazing color, there’s not a lot to do (or not a lot to do that you haven’t done elsewhere in CR). For bird watchers, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge and its boat tours on the river and lake come highly recommended. 2 nights of accommodations is good for most people. We stayed at Finca La Amistad, a working cacao farm, which I highly recommend. Bucolic surroundings, great owner and staff, nice accommodations and a nice chocolate tour makes it a great place to stay.

Great little hike, we were happy to have Jose, as our guide.
Great little hike, we were happy to have Jose, as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and fun. We only wished his english or our spanish were better! We saw lovely birds, including scarlet macaws, a bat, monkeys, lizards. The park has 2 access points and the unofficial one was better as it was more natural and you didn't hear traffic noise.

Be prepared for daily rain squalls even in "dry" season.
Be prepared for daily rain squalls even in "dry" season. Great cloud-forest hiking, especially to Catarata Bijagua--not many wild animals, but plenty of beautiful forests, rushing river, and waterfalls. In Bijagua, Restaurante/Pizzeria El Barrigon -- popular with locals as well as tourists -- has good-value casados.

Great lodges in wonderful garden with ponds, many birds , frogs, plants and trees. Fantastic host Victor who is most friendly, his wife also cooks great dinners and serves healthy breakfasts. Not far from national PARC and the lesser known but wonderful canu negro
Everything.
Getting cozy in the nice and clean room and looking outside the balcony is medicine against stress. Was so in need of that.
Staff is welcoming and warm, go the extra mile to help and you really feel like you matter. REAL COSTA RICAN people. I will mention Walvin; but the maintenance staff are also fantastic.
I made a necessary request to the hotel regarding a health related issue and they really took measures and followed up. This is really extraordinary in my experience.
I wish all places gave that feeling.
This was the first place we stayed after we landed in Liberia. We wanted to see Rio Celeste before heading to Arenal and La Fortuna area. We were the only guests for that one day/night - it was green/low season (me, my husband and young daughter were traveling), and Frank was so hospitable and kind. We enjoyed our short stay so much. The room was very beautiful and it felt like you were in the middle of all the gorgeous nature that surrounded you. Would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling in this area.
Absolute immaculacy. This place is run by remarkable family that goes above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. In fact, it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in hotel/hostel rather like you’re being hosted by incredible people in their house. Dinorah & Wilfredo take care of everything around the place, they’re extremely kind, hospitable and their courtesy is beyond comprehension. Another great thing here is a breakfast! Delicious and lavish. Loved my stay there and would come back.
Amazing little place with super nice staff. We visited Rio Celeste and decided to stay the night here. It’s so calm at the farm, and the cocoa tour and the chocolate making is a must if here. You get to do the whole process in a non - touristy way.
The breakfast is a delicious mix of well made local favourites , and you have to have the cocoa drinks when there. Everything was fresh and clean.
Incredible setting with great views, lovely gardens, and a very unique property / eco-lodge concept.
Wonderful open common sitting and eating area. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Joel has done an excellent job with the property and I would highly recommend staying here as a base to explore nearby Rio Celeste! The dinner (extra) was excellent.
Beautiful location, basic but comfortable accommodation in lovely gardens, with wildlife in abundance. Staff were welcoming and very helpful - organising a fabulous tubing trip for us which was great fun. Pool was lovely. Restaurant next door served good value local food. Breakfast at hotel was a bonus - all in all a relaxing and good value stay.
Large balcony view is beautiful! Kitchen equipment in nice condition with large refrigerator. Nice large bathroom with great shower space. Owner very kind and responsive. Short drive to Tenorio, 10 min. Short drive into Bijagua, 5 min. Good restaurants nearby, Blue River Brewery and El Sabor de Dona Carmen. Probably others good too!
Miguel and Marjory were wonderful hosts and made a terrific local breakfast as part of our stay. The location is very near Rio Celeste ( 800 meters) and on the main road so easy to find. We loved the restaurant next door - Ristorante Metamorphosis - which is a great choice for meals to avoid driving Costa Rican roads at night.
The place is so beautiful and Alfredo and his family are very welcoming, kind and open people.
We felt like staying with a family.
The garden, the bungalows and the breakfast were all great!
We only stayed for 1 night to go to Rio Celeste, but we didn’t want to leave.
We loved the recommendations and the night tour!
This was a great spot. 5 min drive to Rio Celeste. stayed with our 4 and 2 yr old and classic suite was perfect for us. outdoor shower and jacuzzi tub which kids loved. the breakfast was also great. great bang for your buck. grounds were gorgeous, total jungle vibe.highly recommend.
We liked staying at Cabinas Cascada Rio Celeste very much. The hosts were extremly friendly and helpful. Traditionals breakfasts were amazing. I would recommend Cabinas Cascada Rio Celeste for travellers who are visiting Vulcano Tenorio Park or hanging bridges park (forgot its name).
Exquisitely beautiful property. Beautiful gardens. Lovely restaurant. Pool was amazing. Loved the outdoor shower Trail to the river was exciting. We got there earlier in the day to go to Tenorio to see the Catarata de Rio Celeste. And they let us check in early which was great.
This is a magical farm, our second stay and I hope to return. The bungalows are clean and charming, the cacao and plants are medicinal and delicious. The staff is so accommodating.
A lovely family owned place. Amazing breakfast with home grown cacao. The garden was very beautiful! Lots of frogs which Alfredo, the owner showed us at night.
