The staff here were absolutely amazing and friendly. Dorms suprisingly comfortable (though curtains for the beds could be nice) with solid shower and bathroom facilities. Location along the river was great, though a walk out of town. Pool and hang out facilities were also solid - though mostly used by Colombian families visiting on holiday on the weekends. Food was good if on the pricier end for Colombia. Overall a nice stay.

Great location right in the village but still with a good view/outlook from the veranda/breakfast area. Loved sitting eating breakfast (which was GREAT by the way!) whilst watching all the humming birds! Staff were incredibly friendly :)

Minca is a lovely little town in the mountains, surrounded by native and outstanding nature. I recommend to visit it 200%. The nature there is amazing, it is very safe, and there are many interesting spots for hiking and enjoy a lot of the biodiversity of Colombia.

Lovely place to see birds, swim in some waterfalls, have some good coffee and chocolate on farms, get some craft beer. Very hot though— stay hydrated and pack sunscreen. I would recommend this place and advise hiking around to enjoy the nature.

Loved Minca so much.
Loved Minca so much. The town feels very catered to tourists and it was hard to find a cheap, local restaurant with a menu del dia for example but there are lots of good western-ish options and the wildlife/surrounding area is so beautiful. Highly recommend the Cerro Kennedy hike (stay at El Ramo) too.

Minca is a fantastic place to visit to get a sense of the mountainous area of Colombia and its lush and alluring jungle with all the glory of its flora and fauna. Only a short drive from the Santa Marta airport, you find ourself in a little village that is a haven to hikers, motocross bikers, and bird watchers. There are many places to eat with a variety of cuisines and for the most part the food was good. Our favorite activity was birdwatching. We had fantastic outings booked through Jungle Joe. Our guides Tony Martin and Gustavo Viloria were both extremely professional and informed. We loved the La Vittoria Coffee Plantation tucked away in the jungle. Another favorite was Rio Elemento, a hotel/restaurant on the banks of the river with an awesome swing that carries you over the rushing waters.

It is very pretty and I appreciated the access to other types of food since we had been traveling the Colombia for a bit and had been exclusively eating traditional colombian food. You cannot speak about Minca without mentioning the bugs, they are terrible! the worse part is you don’t really see them or know when you are being bit. You just look down and your legs are covered in bites. Also there is a new age spirituality vibe that is strongly felt in the town.
Amazing stay. The atmosphere in Costeno could not be better, every night there’s something to do, karaoke, salsa,.. not to mention that the bartender makes wonderful mojitos. The FOOD was the best food we had since we were in Colombia.
The infinity pool is also a very very nice and quiet place to relax, the view over the jungle is just awesome. We really couldn’t have wished for a better place tot stay in Minca. It’s also close to town which is a plus. Rooms were very clean and staff SUPER friendly.
thank you so much!
The view I absolutely outstanding. The hotel is also very comfortable and this is an awesome place to be “off the world”. If you have a 4x4, a motorbike or traveling with light luggage (=moto taxi), this is a great choice.
The hotel offers a free walking tour which was nice (but the 10 years old junior guide was running way too fast to enjoy the nature).
Generally we had the impression that the hotel offers a higher standard than most other hotels in Colombia, e. g. nicely decorated cocktails, food etc.
Very basic. Upon arrival it didn’t seem right. The Colombian owner was kind, unfortunately his partner was inebriated from when we arrived and that got worse when we got back from a trip into town - we could hear a loud argument. There were two young girls staying next door and they were both terrified during the night, as the one owner (as well as someone else) opened their room and looked into their room several times at night. We felt very uncomfortable and unsafe.
I would put La Casa Del Mono as a definitive must stay for Colombia! If your trip isn’t already including Minca, then make a detour and spent at least a couple of nights here.
Beautiful and modern cabin with an amazing location granting the best sunset views of the valley stretching all the way to Santa Marta. The host was fantastic and spoke perfectly English, we got tons of tips for the surrounding area that really helped us get the most out of the trip.
Large, comfortable room for a great price! The AC worked well, and the shower was one of the best I've encountered in Colombia. Heated a bit for the perfect temperature; and good pressure. The room and bathroom were very clean. Although I only used it to heat up some water, the shared kitchen was quite large, though the hosts do use it to cook meals. The hammocks were nice and the view from the patio and even from the windows in the room were a real treat.
Incredible location removed from the main area of minca, but easily accessible by mototaxis. The volunteers working were incredibly helpful and gave us great advice for our time in Colombia and ran a great tour of the finca. Beautiful views of the mountains and the animals were a bonus too. Free coffee and cocoa and even a warm shower in our room upstairs
- wonderful hostess
— helpful, socially open personality very friendly
- pool
- hygienic friendly people and accommodating (easy going in western standards, but for Colombian people 10/10!)
- within 200 meter to nice restaurants, coffee bar and small shops for water and food for you’re day trips
-Tourist, friendly environment
We will always visit Sierra minca every year. There are no words to describe how awesome the staff and hotel make you feel. This place takes you to another state of mind. I love everything about Sierra minca. They will help you find everything great about the area and yourself. Go and find out for yourself. Vale 100%
One of the best stays we had in Colombia! Very friendly and helpful staff. We were the only accommodation on the whole hill and had a beautiful sunset view with a bonfire. The house was very clean and well prepared against mosquitoes. We really enjoyed the stay, highly recommended!
Although it’s difficult to reach (you need to get a jeep from Minca), that’s the whole point. It’s a secluded, amazingly beautiful place, located with an astonishing view. The breakfast is very good (take the Colombian. The pancakes are not so good…). Dinner is great
We stayed 2 nights in Costeño River Minca, in one of the mountain view rooms. The rooms are very nice, with an amazing view on the rain forest. Same goes for the swimming pool. The food is also very nice at a very decent price.
The location is great - amazing views from the restaurant balcony and pool area. Bathroom looked outdated, but this was the best shower we've had in Colombia - hot water, good water pressure, and spacious.
My room at Coffee House Minca was very clean, and almost brand new. It is located close enough to cafes and restaurants to walk within a minute or so, but also very quiet at night. Breakfast is delicious!
Our overall experience at Sol de Minca was amazing. The quality of the food (the best food we've had) and the view of the mountain and the city at night were our two top highlights of Colombia.
The hummingbirds were amazing. The pool was nice and it was really close to town. The parking was great and one of the few places you could arrive to Minca to by car without a 4x4.
