What I did not like was the fact that every night "poor" people would
empty out of the official garbage containers in downtown Armenia throwing the contents on the square where the local business is operating. It is true however that the squares and streets are cleaned daily meticulously .

A fantastic place near Armenia There is one huge reason to go to Armenia, the Quindio Botanical Gardens four kilometres from town. They are the best botanical gardens I have been to since Kandy in Sri Lanka 42 years ago. They are big with a fabulous butterfly house. You have to take a guided tour, but it last nearly 3 hours and my guide was fantastic. Maybe the best thing I have seen in Colombia in 7 weeks

The scenery it’s amazing! Mountains are cover in agricultural products as coffee, bananas, pineapple, avocado trees. The local food it’s delicious and the people it’s very friendly.
Many attractions and places to see for a short drive, as finca Recuca, Salento and Valle del Cócora, Parque del café, Balsaje río la vieja.

The staff were so accommodating especially considering we arrived from Bogotá after midnight. A nice employee welcomed us in and showed us our room within 5 min of our arrival.
The breakfast was good - scrambled eggs, cheese, bread, an arepa, and your choice of coffee or hot chocolate.
Really the rating is the value of what you get for what you pay - Hotel el Bosque is an incredible find for a budget traveler. Would definitely recommend staying for one night if that's what your itinerary calls for.
Had read in some reviews that it was noisy, particularly because of the carpark, however, we thought it was absolutely fine - have actually been in noisier hotels! I suppose just take earplugs in case of any noise if you're a light sleeper. We hired a motorcycle to visit Salento, Valle Del Cocora, Circasia, Filandia and Pereira, so it was great to be able to park it at the hotel. The hotel was in a good, central location, the staff were nice and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.
Security is a major concern for foreigners traveling on a budget in Colombia and the best solution is to choose a small family run hotel like the Hotel AlpIno. The amenities are basic but there is a 24 hour presence and your belongings are always safe. The cleanliness is super good and the staff helped with taxis and other arrangements. The neighborhood is a bit dicey but safe to walk around in the daytime. Inexpensive laundry service was a bonus.
I booked the hotel last minute arriving from Villaveija late at night. I booked a room in this hotel but after some back and forth they offered me a room in their sister hotel Armenia Center. I got a private room with my own bathroom- it was very basic as you’d expect for the price. the light was not working and the shower only has cold water. the receptionist was very friendly and patient with my basic Spanish.
The hotel's perfect location amidst nature, yet walking distance to a charming mall with a café, supermarket, and restaurants. Only five minutes from the airport with minimal noise. Spacious, clean rooms, well-maintained facilities. Kids loved the horses and dog. Incredibly helpful, friendly staff. Amazing breakfast (the restaurant were breakfast is served is also great for dinner). Unforgettable experience.
Staff was super nice. Allowed us to drop our bags before check in and even gave us free breakfast. There’s someone at the reception 24/7 which is helpful and helped us feel safe. They were even able to call us a taxi at 4 AM! It’s located right across a grocery store which was helpful and 5 minutes from the Armenia Terminal.
The hotel is far from the main road. It is a very peaceful place surrounded by trees. The hotel is protected by guards so it is definitely safe. There is room service. The staff speaks English very well. They can organize taxis or tours to nearby attractions.
