Mountain View Motel, hotel in Queenstown

Located less than 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of town, Mountain View Motel provides free BBQ facilities and rooms with a microwave and refrigerator. Free parking is available on site.

The location is great, Queenstown is cool. I found it fascinating that the accommodation used to be old mining barracks and I loved the wall paintings. Check-in was smooth (I didn't mind doing it over the phone, we had a great reception with Optus). The room and common kitchen had been cleaned and the electric blankets/heater were great.

Have to wait a couple more years to get the train going through to Strahan again . This will be the highlight of the area. Had a great meal at the Empire hotel. We did the paranormal tour of the old hospital, bit overpriced for what you get, still not convinced of the presence of spirits though.

A historic town with ample opportunities to go hiking, sight seeing, mountain biking, with the West Coast wilderness Railway departing from here and heritage tours also available. It is easy to walk around and find a place for a meal or coffee.

Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit.

Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit. There's a lot to see, some great walks, and the people are really friendly and helpful. It's an old mining town surrounded by spectacular mountains and you'll need more than a few days to fully appreciate what it has to offer. We were there for 4 days during the Unconformity Festival held biannually in October but wished we had longer. The weather was fabulous for the first 2 days and then it rained, which is quite common in this area but shouldn't put anyone off visiting. One of our favourite places to eat was JJ's where we had delicious homemade vegetable soup and absolutely delectable bread and butter pudding! The Gallery Museum was also a highlight with its wonderful mining history display. Even just walking around the streets is a treat. This quirky town should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting Tasmania - but don't forget your raincoat.

Queenstown has lost most of its population.

Queenstown has lost most of its population. There are many vacant storefronts on Main Street. We enjoyed our overnight stay but found no reason to stay longer. I hope they find a way to revitalize their town! Nice people and great food at our hotel.

I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown.

I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown. I was disappointed the train wasn't running, due to maintenance. Without the train, l spent my time visiting art places and the museum. I also looked at iron bluff and the waterfall. Throughly enjoyed lots of coffee at MoonScape.

I drove to Queenstown from Strahan after a World Heritage day cruise, rather than stay in Strahan for a second night, as Queenstown is about an hour closer to Hobart. The hotel suited my needs for a short overnight stay so I could take a Wilderness Railway trip. The staff were very friendly. Renovated shower, lovely towels and sheets. It was a cold miserable day and the room was lovely and warm when I arrived. It was convenient to use their restaurant, plenty of choice, huge serve and a good meal.

The spacious thoughtfully decorated bedroom and other associated rooms, plus the lofty town view. Walking to and from the premises to town via the rain forest gardens and steps. We greatly appreciated the offer from Karen and Steve to drive us both ways from in town dining. Good recommendations about places to eat in the evening in Queenstown. We especially enjoyed the Thai restaurant with its gregarious "ORANGE man" owner.

We had a wonderful stay at Hunters Hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well-kept. Everything had been thought of, from bathrobes and slippers, to wifi and welcome chocolates. Ralph and his wife were the most attentive and lovely hosts. They even prepared the breaky buffet earlier than usual because we had an early departure. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

A lovely spacious motel room with a kitchen, a shower and a bath. Clean, neat and tidy. We arrived late and it was easy to arrange a key pick-up. The view was fantastic - mountains at your step! And the restaurant nearby had fantastic Chicken Kiyev, recommend 100%

The hotel is in the heart of old Queenstown and the rooms are part of a restored hotel - there is no bar or dining there as yet. Although the bedroom had a historic feel, the bathroom had been well modernised. A good European-style breakfast was provided.
