We had a wonderful stay! The host was very kind and welcoming. She even improvised a lovely dinner next to the cosy fire, when we arrived late, wet and exhausted by bike. The old school has been renovated beautifully and with great attention to detail.

This hotel was a very nice surprise. recently redecorated with a lot of taste, it really felt like staying in a "grand place". furnished with taste, and attention given to the details .... lovely place. Comfortable with that touch of luxury thrown in, yet affordable The staff was very attentive and pleasant to deal with. Also, I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and both were really good

The location was perfect, just on the edge of the village and a stone’s throw from walks along the River Wear & the Weardale way. The Staff & owners could not have given a warmer welcome and been anymore attentive. Full English breakfast was a cracking way to start the day the following morning to. Great value for money.

This is a lovely old pub in a quiet village. We had a comfortable room at the back with an entrance up the old outside stairs with a very pleasant view. The landlord, Tyrone, was very pleasant. We arrived late but his wife made us a lovely fish pie. It’s popular with walkers. The hills around the village are stunning.

Location is perfect, it is central for the village amenities and there are walks straight from the door into the surrounding countryside. The room was spot on, nothing fancy but everything you required. Basic but clean and that is all we were bothered about. The rooms are attached to the pub, so handy when you have been walking, want a drink and don't want to worry about driving
