I had passed though Avoch (pronounced "Auch") a few times before, not realising what a hidden gem is it is. The property is literally a minute's walk from the shore, and 4 minute's walk from the harbour. Packed with quaint tiny fishermens' cottages in narrow streets, but amenities all nearby. Nobody walks by with saying hello! Everybody very friendly.
Lots of places to visit nearby. I love Rosemarkie with its beautiful beach, shielded from the wind. Cromarty is well worth a visit, especially the museum.
I even went in swimming a few minute's drive away, in Fortrose! (Yes, at the end of October - The Moray Firth has its owm micro-climate!)

Unfortunately I chose a weekend when the host was not providing breakfast but the well fitted kitchen and dining room were available for guests to use and I was warned in advance. The parking in front of the house was very welcome as it was close to guest accommodation.
Location was excellent for centre of Dingwall and Davidson museum which was reason for my visit.

Great hospitality, attention to detail, great value for money, very clean and an amazing bathroom
It’s in a lovely location not far from the village of Rosemarkie and Fortrose. A great base and lovely space for a small family. The beds were comfy and it was clean throughout. Loved the balcony!
Excellent location.
Amazing view. Very well equipped cottages. We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The host Tim, is a very friendly and helpful person.
You need to have your own vehicle as the place is away from the nearby village. Very well accessible roads. Takes just 7-10 minutes to reach the nearest market.
super charming old school villa on the waterside with beautiful view. you go back in the past but it as lots of charm. host Hellen makes you feel at home. good breakfast and good tips. nice golf just few minutes away. Helen told us when to spot dolphins and they are really there and very close to the shore.
The cottage is so cosy and the views are absolutely stunning. It’s like a little peace of heaven! Close to the little village of Rosemarkie. I recommend the cliff beach walk and Fairy Glen. Also a great base for heading to Chanonry point for Dolphin watching. We managed to spot them twice during our stay.
