The position, the staff and the food was excellent
The room was really big and spacious, amazing facilities with a full kitchen and armchairs. The B&B was easy to find and perfect location for those walking Hadrian’s Wall. The host Jackie was really welcoming and even drove us out to a local pub for a fantastic meal as the pub in the village is not open at the moment. Jackie provided a range of options for breakfast, portions very generous and all included in the price of the room. I would highly recommend staying here.
Runnerfoot is a lovely little cottage in a pretty village, cosy, clean and had all we needed and more. The owner (Julie) even provides a welcome pack of bread, butter, jam, milk, eggs, wine etc, which was great to have on arrival. The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring Hadrian's Wall, historic sites and picturesque towns and villages.
Julie was a great host, very friendly and helpful.
Wow! The place is all newly redone...very nice and beautiful garden in the back. We were walking Hadrian's Wall and enjoyed the handy location and small village. Food was great with interesting choices. We had breakfast and packed lunch...yummy!! Hosts were friendly and accommodating
Dacre House was a fantastic find - beautiful property in a lovely village. The décor was incredible - every little detail had been thought of. The breakfast was incredible - such great quality local products. The location of the property was also great for exploring the local area - particularly some of the impressive sections of Hadrian's wall. Next time I will stay for longer!
The warm welcome and the beautiful way the Dacre House has been restored will be a good memory of our visit to the north of England. It was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed during our holiday.
Gilsland itself is a nice village. Beautifully set on the borders of the north penines, northumberland and the nicer parts of the Hadrian wall. The village has a pub with a fine kitchen and a nice mixture of local people and fellow travelers. Just at a minutes walk of the accomodation.
Stayed just one night on way to Scotland. Room was spotless and comfy. Lovely little pub in a quiet village. Breakfast was perfect. Great value for the price.
