We were able to unwind and relax in a super comfortable room with amazing views out over the garden which features rocky outcrops which adjoin the labyrinth rock special site next door. The spa pool was so relaxing after a long day pf travel and we slept like babies in the quiet room with windows open and cool Takaka breeze. Hosts were perfect, very informative but also respectful of your space and privacy. Having laundry and kitchen facility was added bonus to an already amazing property. We can't wait to return. The owners were also kind enough to let us charge our EV (pre-arranged) which is a tremendous convenience to start the day recharged,

Offering free WiFi and set on the bank of a stream, Chalet Karaka offers accommodation 3 minutes' drive from Takaka village in Golden Bay. The 5-star guest house has river views, and guests can enjoy access to BBQ facilities . Chalet Karaka was absolutely delightful - a hidden gem, tucked away in a beautiful, tranquil bushy setting with a small picturesque stream running at the bottom of the garden. The shower was fantastic - excellent pressure with a lovely glass side looking out onto the private garden and stream. The room was spacious and well appointed and the icing on the cake was the generous outdoor undercover living area/deck complete with a Weber for all your barbecue requirements. Ngairie, our host, was friendly, welcoming and very helpful.

Waitapu Springs B&B is set in Takaka and offers a spa and wellness centre and a shared lounge. This 3-star bed and breakfast features a spa experience, with its sauna and hot tub. The bed and breakfast also offers free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. Serge and his wife run a beautiful and slightly quirky spa/B&B quite near Golden Bay. The hot tubs were calming after a busy day and the traditional, wood-fired sauna made my evening. Even a cool water pool to plunge in after.

Guests have access via the main front door to the upstairs bedrooms, plus bathroom and small lounge area. A small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, plus crockery, cutlery and glassware, are provided in the lounge area, along with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. Continental breakfast is served downstairs in the farmhouse kitchen and includes cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast and spreads. I loved the gardens, the beds with flannel sheets and down comforters, the dog Zoey and mostly the host Jude. It was all so lovely!

The B&B is located over Takaka Hill, known as marble mountain. The breakfasts were exceptional. Completely organic/homemade with products from their land. Fresh fruits, juices, preserves, meat, veggies, eggs etc etc! We purchased Renes pizza for dinner. The best pizza we have ever eaten!! Outdoor hot tub (star gazing at night), sauna and jet swim pool, sun decks, bird aviary. Accommodations - private bed/bath, shared living room and dining room with lots of space and furniture, outdoor sun deck area with seating and tables. Brochures for areas of interest in Nelson.
