St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Battle

A 4-storey villa dating back to 1882, St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast embraces a 19th-century theme, with characterful period details and retaining its original Victorian layout.

The hosts were the heart and soul of the property. I can't begin to tell you how fabulous this place is, especially if you are an antique and story collector like me. The hosts were just amazing and happy to indulge me in my questions and to show me hidden secrets in the house. The gardens are stunning with a plethora of fruit and vegetables with butterflies fluttering about. Just magical. I loved it. The design of the hotel was nothing short of spectacular. Each space had its own personality, elegance and timeless charm. From the richly patterned wallpapers to the carefully curated art pieces, every detail seemed to tell a story. Beyond the beauty, the hotel’s comfort was on par with its aesthetic. My room was HUGE, the bed like a canopied cloud, and the amenities top-notch. There was high-speed Wi-Fi and tea and home made cake served in the drawing room upon arrival.

Lovely seafront location with free parking outside. It is almost a mile from the busier area with restaurants which is fine if you fancy a walk. It was a nice touch how breakfast was pre ordered the night before and cooked fresh for the time of your choice. Beautifully decorated room and hallway had pretty stained glass windows. The owner is a great host, she was very welcoming and helpful.

Anne’s House, hotel in Battle

Situated in Hastings, 700 metres from Hastings Beach and 1 km from White Rock Theatre, Anne’s House features accommodation with free WiFi and a garden with a sun terrace and sea views.

You couldn't wish for better hosts than Michael and Olivia. Together, they run a beautifully decorated and maintained B&B. Attention is paid to detail, beautiful white fluffy towels for the bathroom, and fine quality bed linen on a comfy bed. Breakfast was exceptional, and time will be taken by the hosts to ensure that you have a menu that will delight. The food is of the highest standard, sourced locally and cooked to your individual liking. There is nothing negative to say, and we will certainly be returning. Lynne and Mick

This was an inspiring stay. Wonderful house and artwork and the host is such a talented artist himself. Also a wonderful person and host. Breakfast was immaculate and delicious. So mush thought went into it. I felt like I made an instant friend in him. I’m looking forward to staying there again very soon.

Small charming quiet manor hotel with good two variety of dining options, dog friendly with lovely gardens around lakes and through forest and fields. Walkable to the cute village of Battle and the English Heritage site where King Harold fell at the point of an arrow by Norman William The Conqueror. Not grand but cosy. Loved the wood fireplace.

Lovely room at the back of the property so very quiet. In fact the whole property was very quiet but it does look as if it could get very busy, especially with the bar outside. We had a very comfortable bed, although, as it was a 4 poster part of me was hoping for curtains; but I understand why they weren't present. Breakfast was exceptional - great coffee and the fresh fruit was really fresh, the cooked part was very tasty and the member of staff who served us and kept us supplied with toast and coffee was friendly. Loved it.
