Short walk uphill to the Ghasso Village. Very accommodating English speaking staff. We tried the private onsen for 4000 Yen and it was fabulous! Very clean, big rooms with nice energy.

Ideally located in the Izu Nagaoka Onsen district, this ryokan provides a terrace, as well as a hot tub. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. The staff was very attentive and friendly, food was top class.

If you would rather not eat out, you can make use of the kitchen facilities. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. The owner treated us so nice! The property is in a quiet village but very close to the train station. Our stay was very comfortable. The owner even allowed us to keep our luggage there after checkout and then gave us a ride to the train station. Would definitely come again!

The nearest airport is Nagoya Airport, 70 km from the ryokan. This accommodation is 400 years old and managed by the 15th generation now. The history is very special. Even the formal emperor staid at this accommodation. You can really experience the authentic Japanese life. Food was delicious, the best food we had in Japan untill now. We hear that the chef build his cooking skills at a Michelin star restaurant and that is what you see and taste at the food. When we arrived we were (as both having back problems) worried about the traditions futon beds, but this was no problem at all! Nice to do from here is the Nakasendo walk from Magome to Tsumago. The hotel helped us with a useful map and arrange a transfer for us to the starting point.

The hotel is situated on the sea, with an uninterrupted view, a great experience.From check-in, to the onsen, and Japanese breakfast and dinner, plus afternoon tea, we truly experienced traditional Japanese service and enjoyed it very much. From the pick up at the train station to the final drop off at the train station, the two nights and three days were the highlight of our two week trip to Japan. In particular, the lady who brought the food and beverage service to the room was very touching in her seriousness and professionalism.The receptionist is also warm and friendly, very patient and explain one by one.
