To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomBathroom could have been nicer, and only one side of the main bed had a side table/power points. Small things! Biggest issue is, it’s priced for the location (aka astronomically) - which suited us as we attended a wedding at a venue around the corner. But given the ease of public transport in the city, there are hotels with same or nicer amenities on the south side of the city.
Location can’t be faulted - hotel itself was welcoming, and safe (key card operated lift which is nice for such an urban location). The sofa bed was set up upon arrival for our daughter (very nice!), kitchenette was lovely, and bed was comfy. Staff checked us in early without a fee - coffee and tea and biscuits for free in the lobby.

IrelandOn top of having paid for the accommodation online prior to the trip, we were required to pay a 'deposit' which would be refunded in 5 working days. Just didn't make sense to me. I had paid up front and then was expected to give more money on arrival.

United KingdomSome areas looked a little tired but there were notices saying they were about to undertake renovations.
Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and bed and pillows were very comfy. Toiletries were good quality and shower worked well. There was tea and coffee in the room but also free fresh ground coffee, tea and chilled water in the foyer. We left our bags during the day and the staff helped us by printing out our boarding passes. For this part of London the value for money was very good. Great position with lots to see and do in the area.

Reasonably well located on the edge of the City. Accessible to a number of tube stations and routes so quite easy to get around London

JapanShowers are small and the shower curtains make them even smaller as they end up sticking.
The location is perfect and despite being in the centre the hotel rooms are quiet. The room this time was a little smaller than previously but still comfortable. Breakfast is buffet style with a sufficient choice. Staff are polite and unobtrusive.

United KingdomThe 2nd night to extend our stay cost a small fortune when I hoped we may get a bit of a deal. The staff were nice enough but we didn’t get fresh towels or the room cleaned and they didn’t explain how the lift worked so we struggled with lots of bags / dog cages
It was clean and in a good location it was dog friendly and free access to hot drinks and water at all times which was good. The bed and pillows were lovely and comfy.
