This was a favorite stay on our trip. We stayed at many different places during our trip, but my kids liked this place the best. The staff was super friendly, the food was awesome, and the area was so quiet and quaint. There isn't a lot in the town, so if you are looking for shopping this may not be the place for you. We woke up and went for a long walk, the locals were very friendly and helped us find a good route. The inn was comfortable and clean. The restaurant was a surprise, we assumed basic pub food, which was not the case. It was fresh and delicious.

The new owners took an excellent inn and have transformed it into an excellent restaurant with rooms. The food is very good without being unnecessarily elaborate. The staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel like you belong there.

Around 25 miles from central Edinburgh, Black Bull enjoys a prominent location in the pretty Scottish Borders town of Lauder. Oh were do I begin. The room was lovely, big comfy bed, number of pillows to choose and use. The bathroom! Oh great wonderful bathroom with very good waterpressure. The breakfast was very well scheduled and really good quality food. The pub did not give any disturbance.
