Owner is great and has answer to all your questions. Rent a bike is a must in this beautiful countriside. Pool is also fantastic after your day trip around Chateaus.

Stayed in room #4, suspect all the rooms might be different, they are upstairs and there is no elevator. The other thing to note for some people is the bathtub, the sides are very high off the floor; not sure many elderly persons can safely get in. Breakfast is extra, 8 euros per day; its convenient and included 2 croissants, a piece of French bread, orange juice, coffee and fruits. Had dinner a couple of times and it was very good, service was also very good with the owners being the cook and servers as well.

The proprietor and his wife were very friendly and helpful about places to eat for dinner (although they don't speak much English we speak a bit of French) - we ate at a popular pizza place down the road cos they had vegetarian options - and the breakfast in the hotel was excellent. The location, in the Sologne, not far from the Loire, is good for central France if you want to stay rural and there are pleasant local walks through woodlands and by lakes.
Chambord
Chateau des Grotteaux is one of our favourite places in the Sologne region. The owners gave us a warm and personal welcome and each day made sure we were enjoying our stay. The hotel itself is a gorgeous chateau featuring the most beautiful design and unique, cosy rooms. Breakfasts are beyond delicious! A truly relaxing atmosphere in close proximity to Loire castles. We cannot wait to come there again!

Above all, the niceness of Charles and Samiha, the hosts. They are very helpful and accommodating to make one feel comfortable. Also appreciated is the e-mail beforehand with recommendations for restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood. The rooms look like bedrooms in a family home, not in a hotel. The air conditioning, temperatures can get high in Sologne.
Chaumont-sur-Tharonne
Very clean and comfortable little apartment in a most beautiful and peaceful small Sologne village. The host is heartwarmingly friendly, the breakfast is very good and the dogs are adorable.

Lovely setting close to the motorway though extremely quiet. Set in acres of land that would give opportunity for woodland walks. The hotel grounds have a lovely long drive and grassed area perfect for playing with our dog. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished. The staff pleasant and food delicious. The restaurant is very good and breakfast superb. You can take your dog into the restaurant and for breakfast in the morning.
Gorgeous restored chateau in a pristine forest setting. Very secluded. Beautiful breakfast and plenty of food and options to choose from.
Helene was a delight. She was personal, warm, and genuine making our stay truly memorable. We dined at the restaurant that evening and had the most enjoyable three hour dining experience; unforgettable.... c'est magnifique!

The staff, 2 males were quite awkward and told me the dinning area was open that night. It wasn't open. Breakfast., no orange juice, dry bread, very poor. Bed adequate but room needed decorating . Nothing at all like the picture above, it is quite filthy
