This hotel was my "White Lotus" experience. Amazing property. We had a duplex suite (their smallest room) in the renovated Villa Roccabruna, a private home converted to hotel suites. The view from the room, its size, amenities, a welcome gift (fans of MO, free registration)...cannot wait to come back!

Como Funicular
For breathtaking bird’s eye views of Lake Como, take the 7-minute cable car journey up to the hilltop village of Brunate. The best views of the city and lake can be seen from the lighthouse of San Maurizio, which is a steep 30-minute hike or short bus ride away.

An amazing concept but unless you are at the very front of the coach you see nothing until you get there! It’s quite a climb up but fabulous! We went at the wrong time of day. You need to go in the morning as once the sun moves you are looking straight into it from the top. So no good pictures. There’s a little town at the top..it’s lovely . A restaurant also where you can enjoy a bite or a well earned drink! You have to climb )too many )steps to get back around to embarking the coach to go down. You need to be fit! If you are able then do it!

Loved the ride but it fills up quickly so you need to arrive early enough to ensure you get a seat on the funiculare you planned on catching. Otherwise you have to queue until the next one comes along.

A normal weekday morning in October and still the queue to the ticket office was enormous, one and a half hour waiting for 10 minutes ride - not a pleasant experience. If you can find an alternative - bus or car - you better avoid this funicolare.
