Beautiful setting, beautiful old building, close to everything in Shanklin. Beautifully landscaped garden with gate leading to a park across the street and the beach down the street. The breakfast was perfect, lots of choice, perfectly cooked and served. My room was spotless and wonderfully presented on my arrival. And a surprisingly well-stocked hotel bar at reasonable pub prices. I can't praise the wonderful staff any higher as nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile!

The hotel is in the process of being renovated by the owner Steve. The property had previously been owned by an eccentric person who basically ruined the reputation of the business and it's facade.
On arrival you are in disbelief at the emerald green exterior of the property and honestly wonder who could have done that and why!!! This carries on in the interior communal areas
It's stunning and well, different and big and tasteless and tasteful all at the same time. It certainly will not appeal to all.
Our room had a fantastic view of the sea. It was spotless, warm, had a shower and bath and an extremely comfortable bed.
On reflection we had a brilliant stay after getting over the horror on our arrival
The owner Steve is working hard on getting the business back to the standards not only does he deserve but Shanklin deserves
Oh, Steve installed a fridge in our room too.
Keep at it Steve, you're making it happen
So, when we booked the price was so much cheaper than anything else. This in itself should be an indication to anyone booking, if you want 5* then pay!

Shanklin is a great place to stay on the island. In the town centre is a very good selection of shops (including supermarkets, a Post Office, pharmacy, etc) and eateries. There is a very good bus service to the rest of the island and also a railway line which stops at the following places on the East coast - Ryde, Brading, Sandown and Lake. There is easy access to the seafront in the lift which is £2 for a return journey, £1 for a single. There is a good selection of amusements on the front, including 2 x outdoor crazy golf courses, 1 x indoor crazy golf course, arcade machines, a very good value gift shop, fish and chip restaurant and a super ice cream parlour, again very good value Mr Whippy ice cream! A couple of our favourite eating places were the Dragon Pearl (Chinese), The Happy Haddock (fish and chips in the old part of the town) and TJs (a lovely takeaway place offering pizzas, burgers, etc). The charity shops in the town are worth a look too - there were some great bargains to be had! Can recommend Poppins cafe too for sandwiches, coffee and cakes. The area is surrounded by lots of easily accessible footpaths/bridleways and byways so there are walks aplenty if you want to leave the car behind for the day.

A lovely seaside resort, though some of the town centre needed some love and affection. Best bit was the sea front, the Chine was worth a visit and the old village of Shanklin. We eat at the Steamer Inn. Very easy to get around especially with the lift from the Cliffs to the promenade

Shanklin is a pleasant place with friendly people and a widespread dog-friendly attitude, which we encountered all over IOW. Hotel Brunswick is staffed by friendly, helpful staff but it is not a place to go if you wish to dine in and/or use room service. Their menu for dinner was never changed and rather pathetic; choices; breakfast was better but small portions unless you paid extra for a normal full English. This resulted in us eating out lunchtimes to limit our evening needs and again plenty of dog friendly choices with good menus and matching quality of food. Shanklin is hilly and roads narrow but not a problem to negotiate.

Beach is lovely, has facilities, arcades, Shanklin Chine, classic seaside.
We went just after school holidays, which was intentional.
Highly recommend The Steamer Inn restaurant, lovely welcome, food amazing value & big portions. Lovely views, able to sit outside undercover.
Do not recommend The Fishermans Cottage Inn, the bloke behind the bar was rude, we were ignored for ages, no manners and generally wasn't interested. We could have food but had to sit outside in the rain, with a brolly up! on a wet seat.
Food was pricey and the food looked nothing special.
I had such a fabulous stay at The Aqua, didnt want to leave. Mandy, Helen & Laura were so welcoming I felt right at home. The location is perfect with beautiful Shanklin beach right on your doorstep. The whole place is spotless and the team at Aqua has made my hol/break the best I've had in a long time. HIGHLY recommended 👌
It was the first time I stayed here and will certainly be booking here again next time I am in the IOW.
Thanks again Aqua family ❤
