This hotel is located within one of the 7 wonders of Portugal, Castelo de Óbidos. It combines 14th century medieval accommodations with modern facilities in the heart of the village of Óbidos.
Well located in the Obidos Medieval Town district of Óbidos, Casa Lidador - Obidos is located a 3-minute walk from Obidos Castle, 24 miles from Monastery of Alcobaca and 16 miles from Peniche...

The location is perfect. We had a rental car and had no trouble locating nearby parking. Also near small "convenience store" and two actual grocery stores. Also, the best air conditioning we had during our entire trip.
Located within the historic walls of Óbidos, this property is set in an authentic Portuguese house.

The location was excellent. It's very hard to drive to. We're experienced, but not for the faint of heart. Located inside the walled city on the narrow streets.

Just a very short walk to the gates of the old town.

This is a good location to make day trips to other locations. The walled city of Obidos is very crowded and touristy. Instead we'd recommend a day trip to Tomar, Nazare, Alcobaca etc. Definitely you should visit the Buddha Eden Garden in nearby Bombarral.

Óbidos is a cozy intimate romantic little medieval town situated in a very whimsical region of Portugal. The food there is particularly outstanding, be it quality as its relation with price - our late dinner at Real Casa do Petisco followed in the predicates that I announced above; not only did not disappoint as it completely surprised us to be so well served as we were: the food as divine and the staff were of such attentiveness and kindness. I highly recommend it to couples, whatever their age may be. It delivers a greatly complete getaway experience.

Obidos is a charming small town with its original surrounding walls. It's great for a one night stay and an exploration of the town, the castle and the walls, If you're not too afraid of heights (there are no guardrails) you can walk pretty much all the way around the town on the walls. There are some very good restaurants and charming shops. If you are planning an overnight stay the Patio House is well worth considering.

Overrun with tourists.
Overrun with tourists. We liked other locations similar to Obidos which were missing the hoards of tourists. Obidos, Lisbon and Porto were overrun with tourists April 10-May 15. We visited three other fortress hilltop towns that had only three to five other tourist cars visiting while we were there. I would skip Obidos and we left the place after one hour.

Everything was great.
Everything was great. The owners were very welcoming offering us a glass of sherry upon arrival and generously offering us extra food (fruit and crackers) to take when we were leaving. Very nice people.
We loved the staff, the place was lovely and they have a very sustainable way to provide breakfast.
Our room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. The facilities were clean and very nice.
Although, due to the cold weather we couldn't enjoy the pool, however it was clean and inviting.
We even got to play a bit of billiards!
The location is between Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha, so it allowed us to rest in a quiet location without the touristic/urban noises.
It's a beautiful place with a soul - the owner told us that this house has been in their family for the last hundred years. It's a very calm place with orange trees and small goats :) Within ten minutes walk you can get to the Obidos castle.
Our room was very clean and had everything we needed - comfy bed, big shower, well functioning air conditioning. They don't serve breakfast, but there is a common area with a fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee machine.
Wow! What a great place! We loved the apartment and Obidos and Tiago. Such a nice, well equipped, clean and well located apartment. It even had free parking on-site! And Obidos is a beautiful town, our favourite town in Portugal.Tiago made it so easy to find our way around the best sights, restaurants and routes in the city and surrounding area. On top of being such a great space, it was incredibly good value. Thank you Tiago we will be back!
This hotel is quite modern, and from a walking distance to the old town of Obidos, which was really conveniant. It's quiet, there is no staff so you are pretty independent in there. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and comfortable, and super clean. There is a common space near the entrance where you can relax and eat your own food. Perfect place for a short stay. And best value for money around the area.
Huge room. Amazingly appointed. Great art, lounge, TV comfy bed. Fantastic location near side entrance to city. Close to city square. Absolutely amazing city. One of my all time favorite cities to visit and The Literary Man will be the only place id choose to stay. Absolutely the best! Breakfast was unbelievable. The photos on their website do not lie! Definitely would recommend this hotel.
