Great place to visit beautiful view.
Great place to visit beautiful view. Colour photos turn out fantastic due to lighting, lake environment colours. Sky at night best I've seen. Rented large house for our family gathering. In advance Contacted Four Square Tekapo they offered to cook chickens, make vegetarian dish, supplied all our food. Also made salads supplied breads, deserts, drinks. We were so pleased with the service this store provided. Perfect. Would of loved to stay longer.

Lake Tekapo is beautiful and very relaxing but only needs a couple of days to be seen thoroughly.
There's a pleasant, flat walk along and above the shoreline that's not too taxing for younger children and there are trails and hot spring pools for older kids/adults. There's also mini golf or ice skating, depending on what time of the year you go.
Shops are very limited and those available are overpriced - if you are staying self-catered, try to bring food with you or eat out. Thoroughly recommend 25 degree - they don't take bookings so you'll need to get there as they open (for dinner) or be prepared to wait/come back later.
Another downside is the inconsiderate behaviour of some of the other tourists - if you're trying to get any decent photos of the Good Shepherd church or stars, you'll need to go very early/very late or find a secluded place for night photos. Some people seemed unaware that this is a spot for limited light so had car headlights on full whilst sitting outside the church - which made our photographers trip a bit wasted.

Only stayed in Lake Tekapo because I wanted to walk on the Hooker Valley Track. It was reasonable accommodation a good hour away from Mount Cook. Loved our accommodation in Wee Mack and enjoyed going to the Hot Springs after our long fantastic walk to the Mueller Lake glaciers. Wanted to see the stars but it was either cloudy or the moon was too bright to get that dark sky/ full of stars effect. The Summit sky activity has to be booked at least one month in advance.

Lake Tekapo is a beautiful location, with lots to see and do.
A car is needed to see the full extent of the Lake and surrounding districts.
There is a lot of choice from self-cook to takeaways and eat-in restaurants. Something for everyone.
this was our second time staying at the Lakes Edge Holiday Park. the facilities are great! rooms are spacious, bathroom was huge and super clean! love how they have refilled shampoo, body soap and body lotion available.
the kitchen is also very functional.
location is excellent, you can’t get a better location as you’re right in front of the lake. we can’t wait to come back
Wonderful tiny house with an amazing view of Lake Tekapo. Modern and clean with well-equipped kitchen. Good internet. Shower was fantastic. Skylight above the bed was a bonus -- seeing the southern hemisphere sky on a clear night was fantastic. As others have remarked, do not use GPS mapping to find it, but instead follow the directions given by the host.
An absolutely gorgeous location overlooking Lake Tekapo. One whole wall is glass overlooking the lake. The room was large with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Minutes away from restaurants and a grocery story. Wonderful host. Met us when we arrived and gave us helpful information. Would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful property, well organized cottage. Very clean. Easy to access. Hosts readily accommodated our late check-in. Great location, walk to Lake Tekapo and to the little village for stores and restaurants. Fantastic stainless steel hot tub. Would highly recommend.
Had a great time staying this hotel. The facility is nice, clean, modern and the most important one are the staff who are very amazing and welcoming. I will highly recommend this hotel. And I’m sure I will book this hotel if I will visit Lake Tekapo again.
A lovely appointed backpackers. A family trip with two teenagers who had never had this kind of experience - this was a perfect introduction! Other great and friendly guests, an easy place to feel at home and interact with a variety of people!
What a pleasant surprise our stay at MacKenzie Suites was! Our room (the barn) was roomy and cozy. Upon arrival, my name was on a blackboard outside of our room. Heated floors in the bath, a super view of Lake Tekapo…….
Excellent all around!
Good location near shops, resturants and Lake Tekapo. Clean hostel with nice lounge/kitchen area. Beds are comfy, with plug sockets and light with privacy curtain. Lockers available in the room too (just need your own lock).
Lake Tekapo was a beautiful place, away from the city. The hotel is situated not far from the lake’s edge and our room had a scenic view from the front windows. Good restaurant on site as well as walking distance to others.
The location of the cottage was great, close to the town centre and the lake. Friendly, helpful manager. The cottage is basic and a bit dated, but it's one of the cheaper options in Lake Tekapo and has everyting you need.
The room, the location and the views were great. Large kitchen and living room were on the second floor, which offered beautiful views of the lake Tekapo. The mattress was soft and comfortable.
We loved our stay at Boujee! The accommodation was perfect for our short trip to Lake Tekapo. Check-in was very easy and our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable.
Modern and very well appointed cabin. Lovely bathroom and general decor was high spec. Very comfortable room to stay in. Good position to walk to Lake Tekapo.
