Often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, Osaka, Kobe is an absolute gem of a city. It has a multitude of attractions, from the port and harbourside parks to the wonderful Nunobiki herb garden and hillside hikes on the other side of the city, to the old foreign merchants houses in Kitano Ijinkan-gai and the Motomachi and Sannomiya entertainment and shopping areas, there's a huge amount to see and do in Kobe. We gorged ourselves on amazing food, saw historic houses, enjoyed walking through nature, enjoyed food markets and took a harbourside tour. Bakery RIKI near our accommodation in Motomachi sold the most amazing pastries and Nankin-machi (Chinatown) had a wonderful, crowded, hectic atmosphere with hundreds of stalls selling cheap, absolutely delicious food. We will definitely visit Kobe again.

i travel to kobe for work regularly and usually don't do much sight seeing there; it is easy to find my way around, find restaurants and there is easy access to all sorts of places to visit in the kansai area; once we stayed at the outskirts of kobe, up the mountains, with stunning views of the harbour (private accommodation, sadly gone now) but there are some other nice places to stay in and around the city

Kobe has a long history as a port town.
Kobe has a long history as a port town. If you come to Osaka or Kyoto, you should also visit Kobe. You will feel the atmosphere and characteristics of a sophisticated city that is completely different from these two. Compared to these two cities, Kobe has wider sidewalks and more walkable areas, but the city as a whole is compact and easy to get around. If you stay in Kobe, I highly recommend a hotel with a night view of the port city.
It’s a guest house/hostel so of course your expectations should be set with that in mind. It was clean, interesting, good location, and the staff member was really kind. Compared to other hostels I’ve stayed in, the beds were very quiet. I’m a light sleeper so I was thankful for that.
The bed was similar to a futon, which I prefer because it is what I sleep on in my apartment in Japan. I also felt safe as a solo female traveler. I recommend this place. If I go back to Kobe I’ll definitely stay again.
The hotel is in a good location in the Sannomiya area, close to shops, good restaurants and everything you could possibly need. A 5-10 minute walk to Chinatown. The rooms were a bit bigger than most hotels we encountered in Japan, and whilst the beds were very firm, they were comfortable. Guests can make coffee in the lobby whenever they like, and there are free donuts each afternoon, which was a nice bonus. Breakfast was good, with a decent range of Japanese and Western options.
The Daiwa Roynet Sannomiya Premier was an excellent hotel. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with quality bathroom fittings. So comfortable. The staff were so accommodating and would go out of their way to help with anything. The breakfast is very good offering Japanese and Western options. This hotel so central to the main Sannomiya Chuo shopping area which is great.
One of the staff speaks good English and she is patient to explain everything to us during orientation. Meals are good, esp for dinner it is omakase full of surprises, breakfast is also good. A great experience if you have not tried any onsen hotel in Japan before. The private onsen is good and available easily, I like the effect of the kin water.
Comfortable Bed, Medium space Bedroom which is larger than a standard 3-star Japanese hotel. The hotel is 3 mins. walk from train station and also Shinki Bus Terminal which has round trip bus from and to Universal Studios Japan and Nijigen No Mori. It's next to Mint Kobe shopping mall and across Round 1, that's food and amusement sorted.
Lovely hotel, lovely service, great breakfast and dinner buffet. We had a wonderful view of the harbour and the Ferris wheel from our room on the tenth floor. As for room size, fine for Japanese standards, slightly cramped for us, but absolutely comfortable. We had a great time here.
Great location - just a short walk from Sannomiya Station. Free Happy Hour drinks and snacks from 5pm-7pm. An outdoor giant chess board for entertainment during happy hour. And, of course, comfortable rooms with some of the best smelling soap and shampoo I have come across in Japan.
It was an excellent location to explore Kobe and was within 10 minutes walking distance of Motomachi and Chinatown.
We had dinner at a Teppanyaki restaurant in the hotel, staff are very friendly, the service was excellent, and of course Japanese beef was delicious :)
Value for money. Compare to the other ones in the area. Room is big compared to other Japanese hotels. Sparkling clean.
I like it does not need access card for entry. Just electronic keypad password.
Close by to the Gold onsen public bath with 3 mins walk.
Good location, near the Kobe train station and close to the Harbor. The room is good and standard of Japanese business hotels. Overall it is quiet, except for the occasional noise of the train which wasn't too bad. Very polite and helpful staff!
What I like about the hotel:
1. "gold water" onsen is available right in the hotel.
2. Staffs are super helpful, courteous, respectful and polite (Japanese cultural )
3. Traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner.
4. Very spacious room.
The room is Japanese style tatami room with outdoor hot tub on top of stone. Hot tub is considered large and comfortable. It is not onsen for the hot tub
But this hotel does offer private onsen with private change room for 3300yen.
This hotel is nice meeting the standards of other APA hotels. But what was great was the location is just right beside a famous Japanese Shrine and surrounded by nice restaurants. It’s not so far from the station.
excellent western type hotel. encapsulates the japanese psyche around what the west is like. 'posh' in that sense. loads of people have weddings here. it's pretty corny but in a disneyworld way.
It was overall very clean, delicious meals (especially Japanese traditional dinner provided in our own room by the staff), staffs were very welcoming and kind, loved on-sen (hot spring)
Cheap price, close to train station, reasonable walking distance to major sights. Roomy with good storage space to put away luggage. Nice Japanese character to the facility.
