The garden was beautiful, room was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Only issue is that they only have one check-in counter with a lot going on, especially with all of the people in line trying to get into the garden. Overall, it was great.

Great location, comfortable room, and best aperol spritz in the area. The view is like something from a dream. Staff very helpful and accommodating and there is even a small lift if you’re carrying bags to the upper floors.

LOVED this gorgeous property on the hill! It’s a peaceful sanctuary away from the crowded streets in Varenna below. Stunning!! Only noise was really the chickens.

Perfect location for using the train. It was a little walk to the water and restaurants, but no more than 10 minutes and well worth it. La Veranda, the restaurant above the villa, was excellent. The villa was beautiful. There was a nice outside area with tables, chairs, etc. but unfortunately, we were unable to use them due to weather and time. Our host was wonderful. We left our bags early morning and when we returned, they were in our rooms. One thing we missed is the breakfast which I heard was great, but we had too early of a train. Breakfast is made to order, so could not pre-order. Would absolutely stay again.

Varenna is beautiful and we enjoyed it, but no taxis...
Varenna is beautiful and we enjoyed it, but no taxis available you have to stay right in town otherwise have to walk steep hills back to your villa. Restaurants require reservations. Highly recommend Villa Monesterio for walking and outdoor cafe. Everything was very crowded on Saturday and the ferry from Villa Carlotta was over loaded with people if there had been any accident most people could not get out it was too over crowded.

Ideal location for visiting other towns on the lake, Bellagio, Menaggio & Tremenzenno all a short distance away.
Ferries are frequent & very punctual.
One hour train ride into Milan, not that frequent so check the times.

Don't miss Villa Monastero! Lovely gardens walking along the lakeside and tours inside were only offered on weekends. Check hours before going.
A few restaurants within walking distance of the ferry. Bar Moto has spectacular views from the water.

The views from Varenna are better than the more southerly locations. There are lovely walks and it’s easy to get to nearby towns. There are many eating places but not much opportunity to shop if self catering.

We knew we were going off season (the hotel has only opened the week we visited in the 2nd week of March) Varenna is a pretty village with breathtakingly beautiful views. But off season there was nowhere open to get a drink or food after 9pm!
This a cute old fashioned hotel in a great location in Varenna. The rooms have interesting mismatched antique furniture. Our rooms had beautiful lake views. The breakfast was ample with eggs made to order. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is simple not luxurious but suited our needs well. You can walk along the lake a short distance to many good dining options, including the hotels own restaurant next door. It was very hot during our stay and the hotel had good AC for most of the day. They supply 2 bottles of water daily.
The Villa it was simply perfect! The location, room, view, everything! We are coming back soon for sure! It's close to everything you need and want to see. The host Roberto is the best, he helped us from the train station and drove us to Varenna anytime we needed. He even took us to see the whole lake by boat. The experience was beautiful and writing this makes me want to book the next trip already. Lake Como, the villa and Roberto is worth visiting more than once
Very charming hotel in the center of Varenna old town and right on the waterfront. Our room was actually a small apartment under the roof of Casa Rossa. With a magnificent roof terrace. What a view across Lake Como and, if you stand up, even a small part of charming Varenna itself. The apartment has a small kitchen. Breakfast and dinner on the hotel restaurant terrace was surprisingly good - not only because of the location. Very friendly staff.
This was a wonderful place to stay for our three nights in Varenna! Our lovely hosts, Maria and Pietro, met us at the station and gave us a ride to the apartment, which was furnished with binders of suggestions for our time on Lake Como. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable, and centrally located (do be aware that there is no other staff or mid-stay cleaning/towel swap). No AC, but it was very cool at night and there was a powerful fan.
We loved everything about the hotel! We didn't include breakfasts with our booking, but chose to have our coffee, pastry and (freshly squeezed) orange juice there every morning, because the atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly. We've only been back in England for one day, and are missing it already! We had a great holiday in Varenna, and Hotel Beretta played a big part in making it a really special holiday. Many thanks to all the staff!
Spacious room, comfy bed, nice kitchen - and gorgeous view of the lake and mountains from the window and the terrace. The town's center and ferry dock is close by, just a 5 minute walk and there's a nice store down the road. Oscar was very welcoming and helpful - explained about the lake attractions, left us the remote control for the parking. We loved Varenna (it's much prettier than Bellagio btw) and our stay at Residenza Decimina.
The property is in a prime location - 7 minutes walk from the Varenna Esimo train station and 3 minutes walk to the ferry. It is a lovely apartment, very clean and tidy, with lake view in the guest bedroom (the one with 2 single beds) and kitchen, and Mountain View in the master bedroom and living room. The host was very responsive to our questions before and during the stay. I highly recommend it to travelers to Lake Como!
It was the perfect location in the quiet town of Varenna. We loved our balcony view, the access to the botanical gardens and the incredible sunsets. The staff was exceptional. Marco helped us with a booking we made via another resource. For other travelers, please allow this hotel to manage your experiences! They have access to more at better pricing. We overpaid by not booking through the hotel.
The location was excellent because we needed to be close to the Hotel Cipriessi because my daughter was holding her wedding there, and then being so close to the centre of Varenna was a bonus. We walked in the hills, found some excellent restaurants, caught the boats to other villages and had a wonderful time.
Location is perfect to town, ferry, train and restaurants!! Clean and staff is so friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel Beretta and I hope some day to come back!! Thank you to everyone at Hotel Beretta for making our visit to Varenna a wonderful 4 day holiday !!
We had the suite and it was incredible. The view from our balcony was phenomenal! The room was comfortable, the staff were fantastic, we couldn’t have asked for a better location on the lake. If you’re going to Lake Como, Hotel Royal Victoria is the only place you need to stay!

The hotel is in the centre of Varenna; about 15 minutes walk from the train station. It is near all the café /bars and restaurants. Despite the narrowness of the bed, the mattress was very comfortable.
