Lovely small homestay run by a wonderful family, who took care of my every need (and more) as a solo female traveler. Walking distance to the bird sanctuary (a little dilapidated but worth it for the stork colony) and the lakeshore, and perfect location for walking or cycling along various canals (bikes and directions provided for free). Room was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfasts were fabulous too, as well as conversations with the hosts, who built this charming "wooden castle" as a labor of love. Highly recommended!

Are we in paradise or Eden? We can imagine looking on to the waters a world without humankind other than an occasional fishing boat passing by. We turn our backs and look towards the resort designed in a U shape with an excellent integration of traditional crafted architecture.

The property is in a beautiful location overlooking the backwaters. Clean and spacious home with everything you need. The owner and her family are especially lovely, her youngest daughter even taught us how to catch a fish in the river. The owner can organise any tours or boat rides you want. River fish is caught in the evening and served for dinner with delicious accompaniments. Breakfast is also very good.

The evening shikara ride was great for our group and was at the right price point - 2000 rupees for 2 hours for 2 families. The bird sanctuary was a big disappointment as there is not much to see and the facilities are also very poor - of the two bird watching towers one is damaged and other does not have a great view. Not many species of birds could be seen or heard, its more of a nature walk than a bird sanctuary.

As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise.
As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise. As the gates shut the noise and hustle bustle of an Indian town were left outside.
The beautiful old buildings in heritage style, lovely garden with trees and the only sound that of birdsong. It didn’t end there. All the staff from Vaisakh the Manager, Amal the Chef, the lady helping in the kitchen and the lady constantly sweeping the floors and working in the garden were helpful, courteous and always had a cheerful smile. The two men were happy to enter into conversations with us when they were not busy. They also responded immediately when asked for anything.
The food was delicious and well cooked but they found it amusing that we couldn’t handle the chillis in some of the dishes.
The pool was clean and cool and very welcoming in the heat.
We spent a very happy and relaxing week at Brookside Heritage Resort and it was the best place to start our Kerala adventure after a long and arduous journey from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in a property that gave us half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) and had in-house activities such as a sunset boat cruise and an evening cultural show. All this reinforced the kerala theme and made for a wonderful experience.

The backwaters are unique with water lilies and a wide variety of birds that can be viewed in a Shikara at dawn. A houseboat to spend the day and enjoy local cuisine served using fresh fish caught and sold by fisherwomen on the banks is a fabulous experience.

Excellent location for a short lakeside stay. Large swimming pool, with the surrounding patio providing a nice spot to watch the sunset. The adjacent bird sanctuary made for a pleasant walk, although birds can be seen everywhere around the lake. Walking distance to some good Indian restaurants in addition to the hotel restaurant. The boat trip at dawn was a wonderful experience. The staff consistently went above and beyond. And we enjoyed our ayurvedic massages!
The homestay was located at a best view point at kumarakom. You can wake up viewing the sunrise from the balcony. The room is very clean with all the facilities. Staffs are so friendly. They were continuously assisting us from beginning. The price is very cheap and so affordable. The staffs arranged us a crise ride for a very cheap rate. Also the food was so delicious. This is a beautiful resort, completely within the pristine nature of Kumarakom. A lovely heritage resort this one. The staffs are so good. Anil l, the caretaker took every means to make us comfortable. The owner, Binu is also a very nice person. They took anazing care of us. And most importantly, the food. The food is very tasty and completely homely. Overall, the stay was amazing
The hotel is nicely decorated in wood and beautiful landscaping. The lake view is very relaxing and we enjoyed the sunset cruise. The daily tea and snacks were very appreciated. Staff were friendly. A shout out to Suraj for always being available and doing everything to make our stay enjoyable and to Praveen for always providing a friendly service with a smile.

The location and hotel are just beautiful. The view, especially at sunset is amazing.
The rooms were very nice and everything you need.
The food at the restaurant was good and the breakfast too.
I really recommend this hotel specifically for the location, surrounding environment and rooms
Location where the resort is situated is great. There are some great views.
Garden view cottage provides more privacy than the lake view cottages and I'd suggest opting for the former.
The bathroom has open ventilation and is a nice experience.
The staff at Aveda is extremely professional. Inspite of the COVID challenges, the property is well maintained. Pool is definitely the USP and the lake views are amazing. Right from the property, customer service, food , everything was top notch.
We had a lovely time in Mango Kerala Homes! Everyone was so nice, smiling and caring! They helped us to book massage and to organise kayak trip. Breakfast was delicious! Location of the hotel couldn’t be better :) Thank you for everything :)
