Everything was so good. The staffs are friendly. Since we’re there during ramadan, the sahur was provided to the room. It’s nice. But i’m not that kind of person who’ll eat rice for sahur, and i think that’s a lot. The hotel is just walkable to the masjid. So, can perform tarawih easily

Basically Padang is for people who probably finds food hunting their choice of travel. For me, going to Padang was a gateway to Kerinci, for the mountain hike. Padang in itself did not have much sightseeing places to offer but perhaps we did not take the island tours or any waterfall visits. Overall, it's a nice small place to chill and relax.

A big city with little to no immediate tourist interest but serves as a good place to start and end travels. There is good food options but a little difficult for anyone not familar with Padang to access the information. The city have a beautiful but undeveloped waterfront. A friend who is knowledgable says the city is becoming cleaner.

Padang is My wife's hometown,, so this review might be not objective.
This town is famous with it's culture, and the roof of the houses which they call "Bagonjong".
Padang itself is nice, with a great scenery from "Bukit Barisan" mountain and "Batangarau" estuary. You can also learn about Local urban legend such as "Malin Kundang" and "Siti Nurbaya"
But other places around Padang is also noteworthy, such as Bukittingi and Padang Panjang.
The Conclusion is,, Padang is worth a visit. You should spend 1 or 2 week there in Sumatera Barat.

The people are very friendly and kind and we'll soon miss the foods.
BUT, this may not be the place for a vacation where you want to rejuvenate yourself. It's just very hot and humid, and way too crowded around the town center. Kind of disappointing too because the town is quite dirty.
Also, be careful when choosing a place to stay. A 1-star hotel is just like a run-down motel and a Syariah motel doesn't mean Smoking is prohibited.
Instead of Padang, head to Bukittinggi ... this I recommend.

Breakfast fantastic 10/10
Staff that changed bed sheets were great especially Riski helped me and my partner and went above and beyond 11/10 for him.
Good evacuation protocol and concern for peoples
safety during the earthquake and the tsunami warning after the earthquake.
Hotel been amazing, especially the parking for bikes and the place to order food.
Security staff have been great and looked out for our safety whilst dealing with taxi drivers or food deliveries.
Overall it has been the best hotel I have ever experienced!
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel
The location is on a hill across the river of Padang center overlooking the ocean. Many cafe with view around the area
The premise and room are beautiful, their indonesian breakfast is better than their continental or american breakfast which are too little in quantity
Motorbike rental on site, 100k for a day, a lot of places to explore around Padang
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, Rivaldi even can speak a little bit of Chinese.
quiet little homestay just outside padang with amazing sunset views. rooms are simple but clean. Robert is a great host, providing information and pick up service from/to airport/ferry. they also rent out a scooter to explore the area.
great place to stay if you prefer a more quite surrounding and don't mind a 10 minute scooter ride to the city for shopping eat
The place is very calm, completed with all needed amenities for offering an awesome stay. The whole Truntum Hotel team took care of us at anytime, enjoyable and respectful people ready to solve any problem we could have for making us feel supported and like at home. They made our experience to be great. Hoping we can come back soon again!
The hotel was modern (and this is quite rare to find in Padang) - I believe this is the best hotel in terms of price - we paid 650k/ night for a double bed room. When browsing hotel prices on these travel apps, use incognito mode so the apps don’t track you nor increase the price!
Also, nice outdoor swimming pool.

The hotel is in an idyllic location and the rooms are spacious, clean and well put together. Rivaldi F. G. really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and well taken care of. He offered us good advice. Nothing was too much trouble.
I really enjoyed my time here. The staff, Suriya and Jay, are friendly and even took me to get local Padang food (a trip highlight). The beds are big and comfy and the shared space is a good spot to chill out (plus, a fridge you can use).
Everything, the people, the owner, the staff, very friendly people, also the location, you can walk to Taplau (Padang Beach) and the cost of the stay is AWESOME. I will be coming back for sure!
Rob was a great host making sure that I had everything I needed for my very short stay in Padang. The guest house is clean and spacious and the view is amazing.
